Guilty on All Counts
- A jury found Emonte Morgan guilty in the 2021 murder of Chicago Police Officer Ella French and the attempted murder of two other officers on Tuesday evening.
The jury of seven men and five women, most of whom live in the suburbs, deliberated for three and half hours and reached their verdict shortly before 7:30 p.m.
French's mother, Elizabeth, arrived hand-in-hand with her daughter's colleagues for the reading of the verdict. She bowed her head as the guilty verdicts rang out.
Sentencing scheduled for 19 April.
The courtroom should be packed with Officers.

I hope Mr. Morgan does the rest of his entire life behind bars. Knowing that this is Cook County and being arrested for a weapons charge, ultimately nothing was going to happen to him. He still decided to murder and severely injure our brave Officers French and Yanez.

I'm glad he got a GUILTY verdict. With that said the department is as guilty as the offender. I'm not sure if CTS still exists but that's what made this unfortunate ordeal happen. I worked it for one period and realized how dangerous it was for these officers with no experience, guidance thanks to the department.

The police department has more support throughout the city than you realize and more than the media would ever admit. 8:34am yours and others behind the scenes support is welcome however the problem is that none of you are ever vocal at least not in any meaningful way. Why do you think these goofs in Springfield and here in Chicago keep passing laws that hinder law enforcement? Does that open the door for everyone else on the department to get disability for stress? I'm quite certain most of us have experienced more job stress than a clouted crybaby who never saw the street. But that wouldn't work out for the rest of us, even those with legitimate issues. I wonder why.
