It’s a tough and valuable job but with plummeting enrollment and the results I’d say give out fare raise and lift residency for CPS instead of financing housing. That’s a black hole for money, and the CPS is already a black hole for unaccountable money. Housing is way overpriced and if the teachers expect chicago taxpayers to fund overpriced housing they insane.
My wife is a CPS teacher, she's given up all hope in the system just like me at CPD. She says kids don't give a fuck, most of these kids are hybrid dropouts. They'll show up only 40% of the time to school and do ZERO work. The thing is they CANT fail them. They have to advance them to the next grade. In paper it might look like a success. But if they test the students you'll soon realize 8th graders are reading at a 2nd grade level, same thing with math and science. Their parents don't care either.

Schools will be obsolete soon. They are currently developing AI technology that will replace a teacher. It is not hard to transfer a lesson plan to AI technology replacing teachers completely. Once they develop this software, and now you can keep your kids at home and give them materials that coincide with your beliefs. That way your kids dont get groomed by pedophiles and Marxists.

1) They're renters;
2) They be living in momma's house;
3) Nobody in house pays real estate tax bill, it's in arrears, as is neighbors' bills.
4) They're technically dead, but still voting, or living in some other progressive stronghold city, but still abesentee-voting here in Chicago.
5) They vote on basis of ethnic affiliation, no matter what.

Ummmm…is this your first contract? I’ve been through 6 and it never mattered what the CTU or anyone else got. The police officers are hated by most Chicago politicians. It’s either take what we give you or go to arbitration. And the arbitrator never gave a shit either. The CTU runs the mayor.

12:07pm I'll agree with you. Although you have to frame the argument a certain way. Traditionally they won't compare teacher salaries/raises to police because they are different occupations. The argument should be however, "you can't say you don't have money to give police good raises when you just gave the CTU a large increase." Additionally, even if we did agree to raises ,had we not agreed to those shit bag 2.5% raises initially and pressed for more, when the Mayor supposedly came to JC and asked him what we could do to help give him labor peace through the DNC, we would have been in a much better position to negotiate even more than what we ended up with. In all of the contracts I've been here for, FOP has always managed to fuck up bargaining leverage

Teachers are overpaid, period. Name another profession where "goals" and "Objectives" need to be lowered to accommodate the persistent lack of performance by employees.

I went to school in a pretty redneck suburb and, while I don't think they tried to indoctrinate us (if they did, it would have been conservative doctrine), the quality of the education sucked, the selection of classes offered was poor, and the teachers spent most of their time kissing up to the jocks. Personally, I approve of the future you predict.

They will strike, because that's the way their game is played. They all know going in that the mayor will be agreeing to their terms, but they have to strike to get the attention of the less intelligent members of the voting public. They have to be seen as overworked and underpaid heroes, just trying to help the chilruns. The mayor has to temporarily play the bad guy, only to eventually give in, while saying he did it so the chilruns can get back to learning. If there's no strike, there's no media attention. If there's no media attention, there's no dumbocrat voter sympathy for the poor underpaid teachers. It's all a game to extract the most money out of taxpayers and keep the votes of the non-taxpayers. Public education is very important to the dumbocrat voters, despite their inability to actually make sure their children go to school, and despite the public educators being unable/unwilling to actually educate anyone.

You're just being racist. They gave this incorrect form of English an official name years ago. It's AAVE. Sure it's just an excuse for uneducated people to keep speaking their uneducated and incorrect version of English, but you're racist if you say they're not speaking proper English. They are speaking proper African American Vernacular English, which has "rules" that prove it's a legitimate version of English, unless they also choose to violate those "rules" when speaking it. That's just up to the speaker, because the rules that legitimized the illegitimate language are very fluid and arbitrary. The important thing to remember is that you're racist and they're intelligent.
