The odds for another nervous breakdown just dropped considerably:
Mayor Brandon Johnson has labeled "a done deal" his decision to cancel the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system contract after the historically violent summer months and the Democratic National Convention.
But it may not be done at all, if some members of the City Council have anything to say about it.
The Committee on Police and Fire will meet Monday to consider an ordinance sponsored by South Side Ald. David Moore (17th) that would, if passed, set the stage for local alderpersons to decide whether or not to continue ShotSpotter in their wards.
It’s a high-stakes version of another ordinance that allows individual wards to decide whether to allow booting on private property.
Conehead (and his commie CTU backers) lost the "Bring Chicago Home" tax hike.
His Prickwrinkle-sponsor ended up with the wrong states attorney candidate.
Now he's finishing what Groot started - losing the rubber stamp City Council as the aldercreatures see the political reins loosening in his hands. They're actually going to try for a ward-by-ward solution for ShotSpotter.
This is by far the weakest mayor we've seen in our entire lives here in Chicago. One-and-done is the current thinking.

The irony here is the presumption, generations old as it is, that the city's executive branch is inherently boss over it's legislative branch.
As in the mayor dictates and the city council jumps, bows and humbly requests of mayor, may we have another, please?
If the executive branch does not lawfully control the city budgets, as in cannot dictate where or even if taxpayers' monies are allocated/spent, than the city council has, and has had, control of said monies.
Is our city's government defined in this way?
