This is a Good Idea

It's such a good idea, we don't expect it to be used here:

  • One of the most common spy movie tropes is the protagonist's ability to tag a suspect with a discreet tracking dart from afar. That way, they can covertly track the baddies wherever they go. Well, it's no longer a spy movie trick—it's reality, as police departments have begun tagging fleeing vehicles with GPS trackers, eliminating the need for high-speed pursuit.

Old Westbury Police Department in New York is using vehicle-mounted launchers that fire foam projectiles with a heat-activated sticky glue at fleeing vehicles in a car chase. The projectiles have wireless GPS tracking systems built into them, which allow police to track the car's whereabouts. The launchers and darts are made by StarChase, who also leases out handheld units to the NYPD, among other departments. The idea is to eliminate car chases, which are dangerous and often put the public at risk.

The trial lawyers who make a living suing the Department would be first in line to oppose it.

You know what would be another great idea?

  • A taser for cars that fries the electrical system.

Bang! Zap! Dead car. Feel free to steal that idea and make millions.

This technology is being used here in Illinois.

StarChase is widely used in suburbs, and to great effect.

Another good idea is for Area 5 to cut ties with Sgt NTD. She is reckless and condescending. There is 1 standard and it applies to ALL, even her. The proof has already been documented.

StarChase has been around for sometime. Criminals that know agencies in their area use this technology will just pull over and break off the dart and go on their way. I've read some articles about that happening.

Cost is the biggest issue for police agencies. Way back in 2013 the system cost over 5k with each dart costing $500. The Iowa State Patrol bought it back in the day, well only a few of them. Don't know how it's worked out for them. How well does it work in snow, ice, rain or on a dirty muddy car?

The Grappler Police Bumper looks like a better working system than StarChase. But surely it's expensive too. https://policebumper.com/articles/

I have a better idea. Let's have a button that car owners can push that disables their car when it's being used by an unauthorized person. That's not my favorite idea, but it's in the top three. Number one is a button that instantly kills anyone who thinks it's acceptable to steal someone's car. Ideally, it would work in conjunction with disabling the vehicle, so the corpse doesn't steer into a group of innocent children or something. Death penalty for stealing a car though? Absolutely! It's a great deterrent and cuts down on repeat offenders for pretty much every crime. I have another great idea to help with population control and the gang problem: Tattoo ink that slowly releases poison into the body of anyone who gets a gang tattoo. That would require cooperation on the part of the tattoo artists, so it might not be doable, but one can dream. I also have a great solution to the homeless problem. On the second Tuesday of every month, we could have garbage trucks drive around the city, collecting tents and cardboard boxes, and whatever random items homeless people claim as their home or property. This works best if they're sleeping inside the tents and boxes at the time of collection. If they're out and about, we'll need a secondary crew to snatch them up and toss them in the compactor. If local political leaders get mistaken for homeless people, even better. This city would be so much safer and cleaner once these plans are executed. I have other ideas too, but they might be a bit radical and violent for this blog. Happy Easter!

Great, don’t have to chase. Just track the car and find out where they dump it, the offenders will be in the wind by the time police arrive, no bothersome foot pursuits, TRR’s or arrest reports to be burdened with.

I’m sure Woke alderman and progressives will be against the idea of it used here due to the disproportionate amount of times it’s used on a certain demographics vehicle vs Yt people. Just hope my wife doesn’t get one of these gadgets I still find luggage gps devices in my car all the time. Found one in my wallet the other day.

Say we had a tazer that could stop a car. They would probably make policy that we couldn't use it on a moving car or too old of a car or if it raining etc. You could only aim at the lower half of vehicle and a mechanic can only remove the prongs......

Or when the get caught, put them in prison so they don't carjack more cars. That will certainly bring the numbers down considerably.

We tried to get that here but the lawyers shit canned it because they said we would need a warrant before it was deployed. The dart constituted a "seizure." No way that the democrats in a blue shit hole are going to make it easier to put criminals in jail.

If you're close enough to the bad guy to deploy the GPS tracker, you're close enough to do what the Arkansas State Police does and do a PIT to stop the chase right then and there.

Last year in Lake Co. a pregnant lady was jacked by shitheads, her 2 year old still in the car, they ran her over injuring her. It was a VW and car had tracking , deputies called VW and asked if they could give location of vehicle and they refused because victim didn’t pay for service. A detective had to use his own credit card to enable tracking. Probably some police hating shithead working at Volkswagen that day.

This reminds me of the mid-1980s song “ Relax Don’t do it...” by Frankie Goes to Hollywood!
Instead of “ Relax Don’t do it...Hit me with your Laser Beam...”
We will have “ Relax Don’t STEAL it.... Hit you with my TRACKER Thing...”

A similar short range device could be used to attract the attention of potential “ Partners” in the type of bars and nightclubs favored by the Keesing Bandit.

Use to be a show called viper that would do exactly that to a moving vehicle. A real idea would be having paint ball guns that shoot special paint that emits high infrared so every camera in the city would take a picture of the car when it’s seen.

There was in fact a tazer-like device demonstrated for stopping a vehicle back in the 80s. It looked like a small, flat, wheeled cart that carried a high voltage generator. It was launched from the front of the police car under the vehicle being chased. It then produced what amounts to a lightning storm under the car, quickly destroying most of the electrical system. I remember the videos but had no luck finding it.

Made right in sunny Ridgecrest kalifornia next to China lake for about 60 years now. 😀 slow down, center your hood ornament on the demonized yute in the Chrysler product, flip the cover, caress the pickle button lovingly and away one ! Youza. Notify watch commander, street sweeper and 1 800 junk for the big pieces. Easy peasy. Time for lunch.

Every motor vehicle in the US should have an interlock/transponder which

- requires insertion of a valid driver's license to start and run the engine
- when sent a "ping" code, returns the vehicle's plate # and the driver's license #
- when sent a "zap" code, cuts the throttle to idle (leaving steering and brakes working)

Each "zapper" would be registered to a specific user (law enforcement only), have a unique ID to be recorded by a targeted vehicle, and report each use via cell telephony. (Easy tracking of negligent or malicious use.)

Would that be useful to you guys?

Why not just start out with a taser?! Officers arrive on scene, and tase everyone who's on scene immediately. Those that get hysterical get tased again immediately. Let's go a step further and have cars equipped with flame throwers on the roof. Pull up to the late night bar fight at 0230 on early Monday morning...clearly they don't care about work and raising kids, just blast them with Uncle Kelvin! If those fellow bar people are really your friends, they'll pee on you to put out that nasty little burning sensation that you brought on yourself anyway. These sort of late night disturbances would become a thing of the past. We've been going about this all too wrong. These kids that are doing the catalytic converter thefts and these armed robbery crews, don't put them in jail, no! HOBBLE them so they have a permanent reminder of poor decision making and the general public will see that the city is helping these life support systems for rectums to make better choices. There's a reason people only steal twice in Iran, you only have 2 arms!! Why aren't I the mayor here, it just makes me giggle.

Sure, that will only add $5000 to the price of the car. And do you really want the government involved deciding when and where you can drive your car, Rich? Think long and hard about that one.
