Two Stadium Handouts?

In the litany of bad ideas, this one is up there:

  • There are at least three ways to consider a developer’s recent proposal to form a “financing partnership” to help build new stadiums for the Bears and the White Sox:

    – Boy, what a potential boost two stadiums would be for downtown Chicago, which hasn’t been the same since the pandemic.

    – For public-watchdog purposes, it would be nice to have Bears chairman George McCaskey and Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf under the same umbrella. You know, keeping your friends close and your enemies closer.

    – McCaskey and Reinsdorf together with a hand out could produce a bad-ownership nuclear reaction. Kind of like “Oppenheimer,’’ but with money-grubbing capitalists leading the way instead of brainy physicists. You might be asking how the Bears, who haven’t won a Super Bowl since the 1985 season, and the Sox, who have been a mess for a while, could get any worse. I don’t know, but I don’t want to use public funding to find out.

Columnist Rick Morrissey further demolishes the thought of taxpayers funding two stadiums, pointing out the Bears already said they'd do their own financing if they build in Arlington Heights. Not to mention we pointed out that Dollar Bill Wirtz paid off his stadium effort nearly thirty years ago with Reinsdorf along for the ride.

Hopefully, these voices dissuade politicos looking to spend non-existent money.

Anything to keep the teams in Chicago. Money of the taxpayers have no limits. It’d be different if all the demoRat pols in Illinois fronted their own money, then you’d see how penny pinching they could become and not play fast and loose with their own money.

Funny how there's a CPS connection to the stadium giveaway sweepstakes.

Karen B. Murphy, a Chicago Bears employee for over 25 years was just elevated to Executive Vice President of Stadium Development and Chief Operations Manager.

Who is Karen B Murphy? According to Forbes magazine, she's one of the most powerful women in the NFL and the wife of Brett Murphy, a CPS Residency violator since 2009. The couple have been living in Wilmette since 2008 and have moved from one Wilmette mini-mansion to another while there.

Brett is an English teacher at North Grand High School and was hired on August 27. 2003 and after the new CPS Residency Policy was put in place on November 20. 1996, meaning he's NOT grandfathered-in with the old CPS Residency Policy and can live wherever he chooses to live.

Brett was initially hired as a Chicago resident. So, he's NOT ELIGIBLE to get a residency waiver on two fronts.

One, is English isn't a need subject area and two, he was hired after 1996.

Three CPS OIGs (Sullivan, Schuler. Fletcher) have known about known Brett Murphy living in Wilmeete and none have nailed him for residency fraud.

North Grand teachers reported Brett's residency fraud during the 2009-10 school year to CPS Investigator Ozzie Skenderi ($102,000 salary) while testifying in the free lunch scandal that cost several employees their sweet CPS gigs, including their principal. And their teachers sent in photos of Brett Murphy's jeep with Bears plates and a Wilmette sticker on his front windshield to Fletcher and nothing.

Poor Brett needs to live with his second mommie in Wilmette because he can't make it on a $106,606 salary.

It must be nice to know the queen, especially for CPS and the perks they get from the Bears.

Billionaires getting more taxpayers cash, but how much money is being donated through the back door to these politicians, political campaigns and to their back pockets via manila envelopes full of cash? What kind of gifts are they being given? What is the value of all the gifts in order to sell out the taxpayers who they are elected to represent? We have no absolutely no investigative reporting anymore. In this state anywhere the days of investigated reporting are completely gone. Now they are all owned paid for by the Democrats, who are the source of so much evil.

If they build a new stadium, I just hope they make it safe from magic bullets entering and striking guests at impossible angles from outside. These current stadiums with their open roofs allow bullets to rain down from the sky and hit unsuspecting fat folds from the side. I guess it must be the way the seats are angled that allows bullets to make 90 degree turns while falling downward.

The stadiums won't be a boost to the economy, the teams suck and will remain that way for at least another 10-15 years. New stadium equals significant increase in ticket price, parking and food. Guaranteed attending a game at either stadium for a family of 4 will be minimum $600.00 and that's for cheap seats all the while you continue to fund it as well through taxes.

Hasn’t been the same since the pandemic? How about the state imposition of anarcho-tyranny by allowing BLM/Antifa riots, mass looting, and decriminalized crime? All of this shit, including the weaponized Chinese pandemic, was launched to Get The Bad Orange Man.

We are NOT the Second City anymore you may need to change the name of your blog
WE ARE A THIRD WORLD CITY/COUNTRY.

Bally's also noted that it is now employing more than 620 people – of whom 82 percent are minorities, more than half are women, and 63 percent are Chicago residents.(Democrat extremists SEIU union workers?)

So just 18% of Chicago Bally casino is white male is that what we're saying?
Chicago is 33% white tho.

Not sure why Chicago didn't "re-imagine " twenty-six and California for the new Ballys location

Also of note Bally is blaming poor weather in December for low attendance. Isn't this December in Chicago been one of the mildest winters on record?

The permanent Bally location is never going to be built is it?

State St. Is going to have to be re-imagained soon turning the abandoned stores into whore houses, dispensaries and head shops run by Democrat backed cartels

The White Sox fan base is never going to be that of the Cubs. Go to Nashville and rebuild everything. On top of everything downtown is dead because of the unfettered violence. Wasn't the recented teen takeover/shooting/murder about 2 blocks away from this area.

After "$50 Billion and three cent" I wonder if there will be any money left.

And one wonders why the kids are so stupid!

I thank God for the nuns and the ruler!

City Hall wants to reward Related, the most Woke of Chicago developers, and a fair-weather friend of Mayor Johnson. Neither "old white guy" sports-team has the juice to get this tax-payer fiasco deal done. Related does, willing to spread lots of campaign cash, which makes this entire situation very dynamic and probable.

Empty stadium is a DRAIN on its neighborhood, the empty sidewalks uninviting, and evidence that there's no residential or business population to support local retail businesses and restaurants. Look at Sox Park and Soldiers Field on a non-game day - nary a soul to see.

Cubs park "works" because it's so old, has no vast parking lots, is inserted in existing vibrant residential neighborhood with lots of established retail, restaurant, and bar environment.

Putzes at City Hall will never get dynamics of successful urban design development. It's the graft associated with the contract awards and insider deals that garner the approval of our politicians - and no surprise there.
