Crime is NOT Down
Hey, if it's in the Wall Street Journal, it's got to be more accurate that the New York Times:
Americans think crime is on the rise, but the media keep telling them they’re wrong. A Gallup survey last year found that 92% of Republicans and 58% of Democrats thought crime was increasing. A February Rasmussen Reports survey found that 61% of likely voters say violent crime in the U.S. is getting worse, while only 13% think it’s getting better. Journalists purport to refute this by citing official crime statistics showing a downward trend.
Americans aren’t mistaken. News reports fail to take into account that many victims aren’t reporting crimes to the police, especially since the pandemic.
This is an opinion piece, but the author is John R. Lott Jr., the well-known expert on Gun Rights and probably best known for applying actual scientific analysis to crime statistics - something the media and anti-gun people refuse to acknowledge:
The U.S. has two measures of crime. The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Uniform Crime Reporting program counts the number of crimes reported to police every year. The Bureau of Justice Statistics, in its National Crime Victimization Survey, asks some 240,000 people a year whether they have been victims of a crime. The two measures have diverged since 2020: The FBI has been reporting less crime, while more people say they have been victims.
The divergence is due to several reasons. In 2022, 31% of police departments nationwide, including Los Angeles and New York, didn’t report crime data to the FBI. In addition, in cities from Baltimore to Nashville, Tenn., the FBI is undercounting crimes those jurisdictions reported.
31% of jurisdictions DIDN'T EVEN REPORT CRIME DATA to the FBI? Including New York and Los Angeles?
Gee, you think that had an effect on the crime statistics?
And you think that doesn't prove (again) that the FBI is not to be trusted in anything? They should just change their name to the "Ministerium für Staatssicherheitnow and save the printing costs.

This is so true. Thank you for posting so people know. The Biden Administration, once dickhead was elected, allowed local government units to optionally report crime. So now 35% don’t report at all and crime numbers appear to be going down. A lot of people also don’t report it b/c it’s useless as less and less crimes are solved so why bother. And yes the FBI is lowering the crime numbers that are reported. Would be nice to hear their argument for lowering them.

Best part: During the unrest, New York Police Department officers arrived at the campus but did not enter it, according to the Columbia Spectator. The officers remained at the scene, outside of campus, telling the publication they would only enter if they "hear that someone’s gotten hurt."

Daley 1989-201, from the data we have the Murder Average was 658 per year. Let’s take Chicago’s average murder rate from the summer of love in 2020 onward. That would be 736.
So, murders are up 11.8% from the Daley era.

Biden says "crime is down". If crime isn't reported, it doesn't exist in official terms. If crime isn't reported to FBI by major cities, then that crime simply vanishes and remains unacknowledged.
A lot of people aren't reporting thefts, robberies, muggings, burglaries, property vandalism, verbal assaults, and physical attacks by strangers they encounter in public spaces. They know cops are unlikely to arrive in timely manner, that getting a filed crime report is a challenge, and that any effort to make a report requires more personal effort than outcome will gain.
Of course the criminal media is going to massage the numbers for Brandon, they work for the left, there is no unbiased media. The gaslighting will only intensify leading up to the election steal. Another good one is the polls showing the race closer than it really is, some polls have Fuckface at 43% and Trump 49% when in reality its probably closer to Trump at over 60% or more. They need to keep the poll numbers close enough so when they steal it again in November they have plausible deniability, they will say the other 8% of undecided voters swung towards Pedo Joe.

Plus many robbery, rape, assault and theft victims don't bother reporting, feeling that there is no point. And they know that the court will treat the offender better.
If you're a crime victim, why report it? You know good and well the likes of Kim Foxx will no-bail the offender, and then that offender has a real beef with you. You make yourself more of a target.
As for the DNC convention, I would really like to see *someone* pay BLM and Antifa thugs to show up en masse. It would be a real conundrum - stand down for the Democrat brownshirts this time, or play hardball to protect conventioneers and allow them to pretend that crime really is down and the Biden DOJ has its act together.

The victim is completely forgotten about while the suspect gets out on a no cash bail, and charges are dropped by a toothless judicial system. For some reason, we can't stop crime by holding people in jail while they await a trial anymore.

I have several of Dr. Lott's books. Love them.
The thing I admire most about him is his intellectual honesty.
On a scale of 1-10, he started out as a 4 - sorta neutral but didn't particularly like guns.
Then, he did his research. He did it with an open mind and used data from a wide variety of sources not just cherry-picked ones that suited his taste.
As such, his work is recognized as the gold standard of research and his conclusions are effectively unassailable.
If even 1% of researchers had his ethics, climate change and the 114 geners games would be dead and buried.
Crime went down when you had 100+ stinking,filthy illegals with covid,measles in district lobbies. I’ll pass on reporting the theft ,strong armed robbery.
