The other day, we wrote about O'Neill-Burke telling everyone that she WASN'T the candidate people thought she was:
Fresh from clinching the Democratic nomination for Cook County state’s attorney, Eileen O’Neill Burke on Monday acknowledged she must improve her messaging in a race in which she says she was unfairly cast as the tough-on-crime candidate.
[...]“I think a lot of the concern was unfair that I was going to be very hard on crime,” O'Neill Burke said Monday during a victory speech at the Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Local Union 130 hall in the West Loop. “I want to be effective. That doesn't mean we're going to lock everybody up.”
Did anyone see the Rasmussen poll the other day? In a two-way race, Biden earns just 48 percent of the black vote, while Trump sits at 39 percent. Historically, that's been an 80%-plus for democrats nationally. If it drops below that, dems struggle.
And in Cook County, in the only big name race that would drive voter turnout in the largest majority-minority county in Illinois, Prickwrinkle's flag carrier lost to O'Neill-Burke.
Now combine that with the increasing discontent over illegal aliens among the black voting bloc, AND a dawning realization that things were actually better for them under the last guy....you can see why Prickwrinkle made O'Neill-Burke go out there and promise no one is getting locked up when she's in charge. Prickwrinkle needs something to drive voter turnout.
Otherwise, Illinois may be in play.

I voted for Burke in the primary. But I can’t vote for her again with that message. I’m glad she let me know. I would have hated to make a mistake voting. I will be voting for the Republican in the general election. I know he isn’t any better. But at least I’m sending a message.

Rasmussen isn't the most trustworthy pollster around -- they tend to reverse engineer their data to get the results they or their sponsors want -- but other pollsters are also finding decreased support for Biden among black voters, so Rass may be right this time. For instance, the NYT/Siena poll a few weeks ago noted a similar shift. Personally, I think it would be good for both parties if the black vote were spread out. It would move both parties closer to the center and away from their radical fringes. The 538 podcast also had a program on racial realignment a week or so ago.

White population growth has slowed, but still increasing slightly. Hispanic growth is increasing at a higher rate. Black political influence is on the wane. The state may not be in play, but the county can be. A black minister in commenting on the Easter weekend violence said that the increase was unexpected, something you would expect to see in the summertime. It is becoming harder to ignore the killings.
Every election cycle, with crime through the roof in urban communities, the theories of disgusted black voters switching their allegiances is always brought up. Then election day comes and black voters ALWAYS vote 92% Democrat. Always. Any inroads with black males is counteracted with black females voting 95% for the Dems (usually because they buy the Dem's abortion and freebie restriction BS). Frankly, Repubs need to just stay out of abortion politics, because it will only lead to more of them with Dems in charge, and it is a losing issue for them. The essential shifts in city/county residents for this to have a chance are:
1. No more cynical, yet accurate, bleatings about no purpose in voting in this corruption of a mockery of a democracy.
2. No more retarded insisting that you will only vote on pricinple, when not voting at all shows that your principles are sitting on your lazy ass.
3. No more whinings about how your vote was wasted on a candidate who lost. Suck on a binky or your thumb, or someone else's big toe, to soothe your sadness. At least you voted, unlike the bitchers who did not.
To have even an ice cube's chance in hellish inferno, you have to vote.
