Those darn ShotSpotters, doing the job that 9-1-1 callers won't do:
In making the case to tie Mayor Brandon Johnson’s hands on canceling the ShotSpotter contract, City Council members have repeatedly cited faster response times and the number of gunshot detection alerts not accompanied by a 911 call.
South and West side alderpersons representing the city’s most violent police districts have argued that Chicago police officers never would have known about those incidents without ShotSpotter.
Now, they have statistics to back up their anecdotal claims.
The statistics, compiled by the Chicago Police Department, show response times over the past six years were more than two minutes quicker with a ShotSpotter alert than when the gunshot detection alert was accompanied by a 911 call.
Faster response times means quicker medical care for the maimed and better chances at apprehension...which is why Conehead and Crimesha don't want it around.
How much quicker?
- With only a ShotSpotter alert, the average response time was 8 minutes, 6 seconds. That compares with 10 minutes, 11 seconds when ShotSpotter was combined with a 911 call. Response time grew to 10 minutes, 48 seconds with a 911 call but no ShotSpotter alert.
Oh.
Actually, that's kind of ridiculous. Eight full minutes to respond to a ShotSpaooter call?
We guess this is "Proof Positive" of the warnings we've been giving for nearly two decades about manpower dwindling to crisis levels.

Since the adoption of shotspotter, has the number of bona fide shots fired and people shot risen or fallen? You know the answer. The rise is due to a myriad of reasons. My point being, until those reasons/issues are solved, shotspotter is a waste of money.
A ShotSpotter alert can be no more effective than the sound of a tree falling in the woods....
The Marxists in the city council and the community agitators don’t care that the communities most in need, will be the communities most negatively affected by the removal of shotspotter. With the chance of getting caught lessened, shootings will increase and with that data homicides, etc will increase.
After the successful removal from the mayor’s hands and the aldercreatures hands, next on the agenda is the removal of those pesky pole cams, cuz the cams are racist, and an example of overseers on the plantation watching over the slaves as they toil.

I'd love to analyze the raw numbers. Average often tells a misleading story. Shotspotter certainly helps a lot more than the story tells to avoid telling how brandon johnson policies are hurting certain communities.
You have to wonder what is in Brandon‘s head obviously nothing just a Lotta room and a lot of space for a hat rack on top of his head. This guy is completely brain dead. To let the city fall further and farther into total annihilation but then again they are Democrats and we know the Democrats are not concerned for lawful people anyone that can vote for a Democrat is totally delusional and needs immediate mental health care, and to be institutionalized!

I don't know where they are getting 8 minutes from. But in my district as long as there is no backlog the shotspotter comes out within 30 seconds of the rounds going off, then a vehicle is on it within less than a minute or two. But you put a back log in, which is most days, well then it could take up to an hour. If ever lol. I guess they're averaging it out. Not the best way to look at it. How about getting rid of the bullshit "Johnny won't goto school" calls, or nonsense dope calls, that tie up cars forever. Half the nonsense can goto 311.
Our pathetic media refuses to acknowledge that the "decarceration" supporters are also the most vocal opponents of SS, so allow my to spell it out for them...
They oppose SS because they don't want people apprehended and entering the justice system to begin with...

Shotspotter worked well when it assisted Police in sending “littleHomicide” to meet Michael Jackson.
No revenue in the shot spotter. That’s why they’re killing it. Plus, it makes their cousins vulnerable to prosecution.
Why do we care if we have it or not? Only helps neighborhoods who have it already, and the rest of them pay for it. I say cancel it!

...until those reason/issues are resolved...Sounds like the root cause nonsense. CTU or mayors office troll? Fact quicker response time means saved lives. When someone is bleeding out, every second counts. And yes shot spotter does work. All the time? No but every little bit helps.

The city wants to get rid of Shot Spotter simply because it proves unequivocally who is doing the shooting. A young black male (sometimes Hispanic but not as often) wearing dark clothes and using a 9mm handgun or 5.56mm rifle. (I've been looking for that same offender for the past 20 years.) Once this inconvenient data is removed our overlords and media can continue to use the term "gun violence" to cover up who is responsible for the overwhelming vast majority of the murders, injuries and property damage due to the relentless shootings. {Honk Honk} Welcome to Clown World.
Can’t civilians go over the air and say “shot spotter alert at __________ address 10 rounds” or does it need to be a P/O? All for everyone there being grand fathered in but rather see more cops on the street than get a radio message from a copper instead of a civilian. Right?
On the positive side: Our president has come out in favor of law and order on college campuses. I guess the poll numbers and political advisors told him to say that now. Funny how the law and order Biden and liberal college campus "leaders" were silent during the mostly peaceful burning looting and mayhem days of 2020.
As a side note law enforcement has been criticized for their 3 hour response time to the mostly peaceful UCLA violence. I can't fault the response time. The police are going to get sued and I'm sure their DA is looking at criminal charges --not for the violent protestors but for LE who responded. The shit show university leadership caused this problem by their feckless actions, now the they want to blame the police for the issues they created.
