Retired (?) Exempt Coming Back?
We can't attach truth to any of them. The rumor says that McDermott is coming back to run CPD's convention response. Someone immediately discounted that in the comment section, and we can also say we had heard a completely different name for that position.
The trouble with that is coming in so late in the game is almost a guaranteed failure, so Conehead and Larritorious might just be looking for a fall guy.
And speaking of the DNC, the obfuscation has begun in earnest:

Secret Service was in Chicago on Tuesday talking about security
preparations for the Democratic National Convention. The
Secret Service has the overall responsible for security during the 2024
DNC. However, Chicago Police are responsible for security outside of
the event.
Chicago police won't say how many protesters they are expecting for the DNC, but a coalition of groups planning to march on the convention said there will be as many as 40,000.
"Even if it's not an act of violence, and it appears peaceful, but it's a violation of the law, blocking roadways, blocking venues, things of that nature, we will declare mass arrests in those situations and make those arrests," Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling said.
Snelling claimed he cleared the policy with a coalition of groups overseeing the consent decree on police reforms. They are not allowed to comment publicly, but one source said they do not support the mass arrest policy, despite what Snelling says.
So 40,000 "protestors," and the groups supposedly overseeing the "Consent" decree are already calling Larritorious a liar.
Hope for the best, because the planning so far looks atrocious.
UPDATE: McDermott still working? According to a couple comments, he's still with the Inspection division until he hits 55.

Pretty much every protest in this city ends up with people standing, sitting, marching in the street, straying from the designated protest location, using bullhorns, damaging property, disrupting businesses and traffic, and breaking various other laws. In almost all cases, these illegal acts do not result in arrests, and certainly not a mass arrest situation. Usually the mass arrests are organized with the protest groups, with their designated people willing to be arrested. And no mass arrests will ever happen without first giving multiple warnings to disperse. Larry won't be giving any mass arrest orders unless the shit really hits the fan, meaning the "protest" turned into a riot. He's saying there will be mass arrests in a feeble attempt to trick the protesters into behaving. It won't work, and they'll end up calling his bluff.
If you get stuck at this event become the best “observers” you can be! There will be 15,000 members of the news media and 40,000 protesters. It doesn't look like the Dems are going to get rid of dementia Joe prior to the DNC unless they invoke the 25th Amendment which is very unlikely at this time. They have known for a long time that he cannot be the Candidate.
Newsome was considered but he has driven California into massive debt, unemployment, homeless problems, out of control crime, illegal aliens etc. Most of the Dems that could be considered have a lot of baggage also. Watch for a butterfly to emerge from her cocoon. She may not want the pressure of the daily grind but her mate sure wants it as he is not finished with the “fundamental change of America.” I doubt no one else would have a chance against Trump.

Agreed. The IAD is holding officers hostage at callback, even after they’ve been cleared. Some are been held up and the department doesn’t have any credible evidence against them. On the other hand, a handful of the officers wants to ride it out to retirement. I’ve heard that they have a brand new gym and kitchen over there.
Let them have their way. These commiecrats deserve no less. This little civil war will be mostly peaceful for the world to see. The body count will zoom past the saint floyd celebrations. Stay safe boys and girls. They're not worth it.

while I am praying for the members of the police department during this summer (especially the DNC), I will be watching the shitshow from the comfort of my home in Florida. Mellian was a Deputy Chief when he retired, and had the time in rank when he retired.

The worst thing about being assigned to callback is the circumstances that landed you there. Like the original poster said, some down there don't have open numbers on them. Others are being fucked over and or being retaliated against. The COVID/portal refusals are there but won't be for long. Lightfoot's lackeys are still fucking with the poison jab refusers.
Callback, , from what I'm told, is a great assignment. There's officers and supervisors there that NEVER want to leave. If it wasn't a dump unit it would take over 25 years of seniority and a heavy phone call to get to that unit. It is really a best kept secret.
