Supreme Hypocrite
Remember this moron dissenting in the McDonald v Chicago US Supreme Court case?
Breyer/Ginsberg/Sotomayor contended, “I can find nothing in the Second Amendment’s text, history, or underlying rationale that could warrant characterizing it as ‘fundamental’ insofar as it seeks to protect the keeping and bearing of arms for private self-defense purposes.”
Later in the dissent, after criticizing a prior SCOTUS decision — District of Columbia. v. Heller (2008) — Breyer/Ginsberg/Sotomayor stressed, “Further, there is no popular consensus that the private self-defense right described in Heller is fundamental.”
In the early portion of the dissent’s conclusion, Breyer/Ginsberg/Sotomayor claimed, “In sum, the Framers did not write the Second Amendment in order to protect a private right of armed self-defense. There has been, and is, no consensus that the right is, or was, ‘fundamental.’”
Essentially, there is no "Right" to self defense.
Then this happened a few days ago:
In July, one of Sotomayor’s armed guards shot a would-be carjacker outside her home.
According to the New York Post, the incident occurred shortly after 1:00 a.m. on July 5, 2024. At that time, 18-year-old Kenneth Flowers allegedly pointed a gun at a U.S. Marshal assigned to protect the justice, and the Marshal opened fire, leaving Flowers with non-life-threatening wounds.
We certainly hope that Justice Sotomayor has the offending US Marshall fired for exercising what she considers a non-existent Right.
We also expect that she surrenders her government supplied vehicle to the criminal, so that he may pawn it to pay for his hospital bills and legal fees.
And finally, we pray she pencils another opinion about using Deadly Force to protect private property that results in a re-evaluation against those who rule one way while living behind armed guards that none of us common persons can afford.

Every time I drive by the Holocaust museum on Golf Road I think "if they only had GUNS to protect them from a government that went bad".
Their weapons were taken away from them years earlier.

Regardless of what the 2nd amendment means, what the original intentions were, or what exact interpretation anyone wants to make, how could anyone seriously attempt to make the case that a person is not entitled to defend themselves against a threat on their life? Guns exist, bad guys have them, and they use them against good guys. Good guys should be able to defend themselves with equal or better weapons than the bad guys. My personal belief, and one that is widely held, is that the 2nd amendment exists to ensure that the people are able to arm themselves to ensure their freedom from a potential tyrannical government. Disregarding the 2nd amendment, and any other law or document about gun ownership, can anyone actually explain why a responsible, law-abiding citizen, of sound mind, should not be allowed to own a firearm to defend himself and his family against anyone wishing to do them harm? If no documentation of this right to bear arms existed, should we not immediately create such documentation to ensure a fundamental right? You can't unmake all the guns, or force criminals to turn theirs in, or to abide by the numerous laws already in place. The guns and those willing to use them illegally are already out there. Why shouldn't everyone else be able to be at least as prepared as those wishing to do them harm? Gun laws are all just nonsense to influence dumb voters into thinking someone cares about "the children." They only care about votes.

In the dawning of the days of I am Woman, Hear Me Roar, the passions burned vicerally, deeply drawn from past frustrations.
As the participants of this dawning, young and not so young, ignited by said passions being for so long frustrated, turbo charged to accelerate to epic rapidities, eventually, as passions are wont to do, exhausted these frustrated passions, wear and tear and such, and slipped into the cravings of the high mileage club, finding that the juices of outrageous fortunes were as effective at achieving that enhanced experiences of significance which their previously frantic activities once provided.
Yes, they roared, scored, and ended up quite sore.
Sore in the literal sense, sore in the emotional sense, and sore in the oh my brain aches sense. With no solace for their aching brains to be found in any of their previously soothing activities.
A serenity of solace has no place in their worlds of drama juicing.
The young these days, being exposed so thoroughly to the visual and audible availables on smart phone techologies, have a clarity of reality not either available to their recent ancestors, and unlikely to have dissuaded their passionate frustrations from their compelling them to roar., etc., nor the results of said activities being the history of sel damaging insanities the young of today clearly see them to have been.
Contrary to the desires of the legacy manipulators, today's majority of youngsters can do the math. The math of anticipating, at least considering, the consequences of their past generation's careless choices.
Survival of the fittest is not a myth to doubt the effacacy of.
And the smart phone tech provides an abundance of visual, audible and viceral evidence of those who disregard said effacacy.
It turns my stomach to say this, but Sotomayor maaaaaay actually have a point, even if indirectly. We are part of the government's monopoly on law and violence (and "law", if you think about it, is synonymous with "violence"). So, civilians don't technically have a "right" to self defense, but a "privilege" that we extend to them. Damn lawyers and politicians.
