- I just heard a rumor that 39 out of the 67 most recent CPD Police Academy graduates FAILED the State Exam..for the THIRD time!!!!! Including the class commander. Good Grief!
So....fifty-eight percent failed?
Ten bucks says half make "meri-clout-orious" rank inside of a decade.

Insane, are the instructors at the academy to blame also for the recruits failing multiple times?
Heard a commander's kid just hit the streets.
Kid was told first cycle was mids.
Cried like a baby.
All 3 cycle will be on afternoons.

There needs to be a class action lawsuit. The racial difference is not accidental. Any M/2 who applied and wasnt hired is due for a good payout. I would encourage any m/2 or m/4 to take the test and sue for discrimination after not being chosen

Well nothing like a scholarship kid in my unit with under 3 years OTJ bragging about how she’s being exempt from going to the DNC because the honor guard is requesting her. What does the honor guard even have to do with the DNC!? She made it well known she used to work for a certain alderman and has no shame in bragging about her clout and loves bragging about how she got on the HG. I hope someone in the HG sees this because she will tarnish that group with her bullshit.

This is part The Chicago public school system, how have these recruits been passing their weekly test to move through the Academy, but now can’t pass their state test to become certified law Enforcement officers. This is gross negligence at the highest level fire who is running his Academy!
That test must be full of implicit racial bias and therefore promotes white supremacy.
And with a wave of the hand, that requirement will be gone.
This is an Academy problem. Who is running the place. Who did they bring in for training. What are they teaching. I’m sure there is a whole new program from the person running things.
Are they just hiring (non-competent people ) anyone or is it a teaching issue. All this crap will hurt the city down the road. Chicago will fall apart. The question is when. The why will be mismanagement. Your seeing it in real time. Horribly sad!

Not sure but each class these days is around 25 recruits with usually an A and B class. Each class finishes with around 20-22. So, each class is losing only a few before graduation.

I do not think this is true. They literally give you a lot of the questions that will be on the test.
Another issue I have is why does the police academy focus so much on academics? It's alk unnecessary. Focus on tactics.
This has to be pure rumor. You only get 3 tries, and if you fail all three you can never be law enforcement in Illinois (per the state). This is of course, unless that rule changed which is highly doubtful.

Hey back in 1985 we had people not make it over the wall? But they all became white shirts! If you’re still working take time to ask these new officers what or why they became the police? You will be amazed to what they answer? I have had these O&A’s with several officers……and cannot understand why they came on the job?
Remember to address them as sir when they fly right by you up the ranks.

Well, when the average time on the job of your Academy instructors is less than 10 years, what do you expect.
Because Tactics will keep you alive, but academics will keep you employed and out of prison. Although, they do need to do more tactics training both in the academy and throughout our careers.

I've been to many training classes--LEMART, Wellness, field force, etc., and 90% of the instructors had about 6 years OTJ
It's the dumbing down of the Department. I know, you ask how much further they can dummy it down. Low information and public-school high school graduates reading at the 3rd grade level abound a plenty thanks the CTU and their bitches - the CPS. They are our replacements.

CPD Supervisors are promoted with a score of 50%. Are police recruits held to the standards of 70% is a passing score for State Certification.

The instructors have never been good. The state exam has never been hard though. Who wants to be an instructor at the academy? Literally the worst most dogshit coppers would want that spot. And as I left the academy and look back, it was true back then. No way I’d want any of the suckass instructors as my partner in any job. Arrogance + incompetence = academy instructor
I agree, but if I was a M/2 I’m probably smart enough to not only pass the state test but also not take this miserable job. Let the DEI hires see what it’s like to be demonized. It’ll be great in a decades time what the stereotyped officer will be.
Maybe it’s also because they are hiring people who went thru CPS & maybe- just maybe because they are hiring people based on their racial and economic make up rather than their actual ability to do the job.

In 2016, the academy interviewed for instructor positions. Most who came in were CLUELESS about training, especially LE training. One sued her alma mater 3 times, then they relented, gave her an EDD and shoved her out the door. One has a history of mental illness. One boss' squeeze said she didn't have time to read a lesson plan (Guess there wasn't enough light under his desk) THEY ALL KNEW WHAT THE STATE EXPECTED ILLINOIS POLICE RECRUITS TO LEARN. I blame the IDQC lieutenant (too busy boinking the civilian AFSCME rep), the Operations lieutenant (who promised to monitor instructors-HA!) and the entire command staff, sworn & civilian (ACH) The victims of this are STREET cops and citizens who pay to have properly trained cops. KARMA is coming.
The people who design the instruction and the people who instruct are responsible for effective presentation of the material. If the material is faulty, improperly presented or irresponsibly designed, then, yes, the instructors are responsible.
