- Smart officers are hitting the medical. 1500 as of this morning. (seems like an awfully high number - who has the actual manpower?)

Commanders were instructed by Larry not to list white shirts who hit the
medical on their watch sheets. Doing so would encourage blue shirts to
hit the medical as well. (well who would want to stick around when your leaders aren't sticking around?)
- The bosses
are now running around like pissed-on chickens. The issued gas masks ran
out weeks ago. The Feds and National Guard are preparing to sit this
out and hide. If this DNC goes down without dozens of CPD getting
seriously hurt it will be a miracle. (the equipment issue should have been addressed the day after they announced Chicago was hosting - update helmets, eye wear, everything.)

My district has no clue whats going on with the watches and there’s no plan from the commander. We were asking what’s up and nobody had answers, just to show up and see what happens. Which watch is working the streets, no clue. Will third and first watch be expected to work the streets at the same time? No clue. Parking for the district? Don’t care, park a few blocks away I guess, carpool.

The idea that COPA will set up tents to solicit complaints is interesting, if true. COPA should announce their presence publicly and state the purpose of this initiative. If not, then COPA should also state this is a bogus rumor. They want transparency, that's fine but transparency works both ways.
In any event, if true, they have sent the wrong message to the rank and file. Act accordingly.

Being on the medical is not the issue. I would encourage all members to utilize the medical when they're deathly exhausted mid week. But on the other hand being secretly HIDDEN AWAY on the medical because of rank is a slap in the face to all PO's.
Under our Drs advice due to our migraine headaches, severe anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder both my partner and I will have to use the medical. For those who will criticize we were both severely injured after the Floyd Riots and have done our 20+ years. In reality we are just abiding by the philosophy of this current Presidential Slate of defunded police and non militarized police work. Let it burn, we will both be homebound and of course protecting citizens and family who don’t hate and try and destroy us.

The large underground transformer fire at The SoHo House Hotel Wednesday looks awfully like a test run for chaos both in and outside the security perimeter near UC and downtown. It’s literally right outside the perimeter and when the on scene CFD/CPD huddled with Secret Service to inform them, it was decided to scrub it from local news to not start a panic. Having been present at the security preparations it’s very apparent the plan is we have is no plan.

She would get on him about squad cars parked in her spot in the mornings. He would just take it, so I thought. There were no more squads parked in her spot but parked next to her spot so tight she could not get the door open on several occasions. Then magically the elevator would be shut down with an out of service sign on the door just in time for her morning arrival and he would stand at the desk and watch her waddle up the stairs. The good ole days.

Secret Service reached out and had story scrubbed from local news before people put 2+2 together and start to panic. I got on in 2016. I was never issued a gas mask. No class pat mine got gas mask either. They don’t even have enough mask for the 1k officers in tier 1. I’m certain they used the budget for gas mask for something else. They could have just offloaded the cost to officers like they do vest and helmets. This was one of the only times in my 29 year career that the department truly had us properly prepared( trained in riot control by the military), properly equipped and we were supported by the bosses. We knew what our assignment and schedule would be weeks in advance of the event. The department issued all gang, tac teams and specialized units the turtle gear and black BDUs and we wore it. And the formation of the goon squad ( yes, that is really what it was called), I think you had to be over 6’5 to be selected for the squad . Jim Mauer made sure we were ready to take no shit. He walked around with his dog, smoking a Churchill cigar like he was General Patton passing out water and asking us if we needed anything. Those were the days!!!!

Everyone TIER 1 in my district was issued a gas mask, regardless if you had 2 years on or 20 years on, you were sent to mccormick place and fitted. Maybe you didn't get a mask because you're TIER 2? TIER 1 is 3rd watch along with tac, area teams.

Well I was made Tier 1 just 10 days ago. So me and several officers don't have gas masks. The ones that do have filters that expired 3-4 years ago. This is truly a third-world police department...
Disregard the above of course if you're Tier 1. But for the rest of you on days and midnights (especially the rapid cars) take out a dept carbine and don't put anything of real value in the back of the squad car. When the s***storm begins (and it will) you will get called downtown and not be able to watch your car or valuables. Over 50 marked units were torched or totaled during the 2020 riots.

This has nothing to do with self-respect. It's about communicating with leaderless and incompetent bosses and the political city hacks. Over the years they have created a hostile work environment. It's about individual and collective choices of communicating our displeasure for what they have created. Think of it as the CTU taking action against the CPS/city. They routinely strike, we can't, so their needs to be a meaningful path forward to express ourselves in a more meaningful way. Success in communications is a two-way street. Speaking and listening.
