CCL Success Story
Good news from the south side:
- A woman said she jumped into action Saturday night to protect her
children as a man allegedly tried to break into their home in the city’s
South Shore neighborhood.
According to the Chicago Police Department, officers responded to a report of a person shot around 10:45 p.m. in the 2300 block of East 69th Street. They found a man, initially believed to be the victim of a shooting, with a gunshot wound to his leg.
Investigators quickly learned the man had allegedly tried to break into a nearby home and was shot by a woman who is a Concealed Carry License (CCL) holder.
And she had praise for responding Officers:
The victim of the alleged attempted burglary said she is grateful for the actions of the CPD officers who responded, and while the man she said is responsible was found, the entire incident has left her feeling uneasy. She is looking for a new place to call home with her children.
“The officers were really good last night and helped us through it,” said the woman. “It was just unnerving and I’m jittery still, so. I’m just thankful we weren’t harmed last night, and they got the guy.”
Someone really ought to come up with a "free box of ammo" offer for citizens who successfully defend themselves, their families and their homes. We might see even more stories like this.

Meanwhile over in brighton park a record broken 11 people robbed in 1/2 hour: https://www.fox32chicago.com/news/chicago-crime-brighton-park-armed-robberies?link_source=ta_first_comment&taid=66ded65f90afdf0001c78fc3&utm_campaign=trueAnthem_manual&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwY2xjawFLvwRleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHdlwVPMQRRMWtfwCrk5C9kJZgbwF0phzHwiCtGIckjlNmEL3pQttdxRW6A_aem_4SgFQ2qnwupkv0XcUrOmkQ
*Whoa wait a minute thought the "bad ass" latin gangs were there? Guess they cannot even protect their area! Hey Brandon you have over 200 coppers on your detail how about sending some here?
You don't need a CCL to keep a gun in your home, but still a good story with happy ending.
Annie Oakley award winner.
100% support the female protecting her family. Yes give her a membership and free ammunition to range USA 🇺🇸. It’s too bad the press doesn’t support the police officers when they are involved in shootings. Examples little diablo, person threatens police with baseball bat, offenders attempting to disarm police, empty a 17 shot magazine at police. Double standard. It was better when police had the same positive reporting for doing their jobs.
Yep. What good is a box of ammo when you ain’t got no gun?
Who’s Got Da Cheese Today Says:
Illinois FOID Card is UnConstituional. No other State in the US dictates this because they know it is NOT Constitutional. It is a non voted on Tax by Illinois Politicians, the money from it used as a political Slush Fund. Violations of the US Constitution and Bill of Rights, and 2nd Amendment. Time for reparations and refunds from the State of Illinois.
When Neal Boortz was on the radio in Atlanta he would publicize these self defense shootings on his morning radio show. I think he called them "public service shootings" and advocated providing the shooters with extra boxes of ammunition. There was one case where a store clerk at a gas station/convenience store was being robbed robbed when the owner walked out of his office in the back of the store, saw the robbery, went back to his office, retrieved a shotgun and went to work. Boortz was telling his audience that someone needed to get this guy another shotgun as his was taken as evidence in the shooting...which was justified.
Attagirl.
I only wish she had FINISHED the job. Then no repeat offender EVER!
I know the city won't give this woman any kind of award. But can't SCC come up with some kind of unofficial award for her to encourage other good citizens to protect themselves from the criminal element in our city?
Back in the 70’s (yes, Im old) a box of .38 cal. ammo was 5 bucks. Combined sales taxes brought the cost up to $5.50 for fifty rounds. We referred to this as the eleven cent solution.
Nice shootin Tex!
The police always take their guns. And it is really difficult for the owner to get their firearm back. Why does it take longer to get one's firearm back after the legal use of it than it does to get one's stolen vehicle returned after it's recovered? Why can't the Crime Lab just run its tests, save its data, and return the firearm to the owner who may need it again someday? It should not be needed for any criminal or civil proceeding? Afterall, we don't keep a person's stolen car as evidence for a PSMV case.
Hey SCC, could you please explain why firearms are taken following a self defense shooting? How soon are they returned? Is this standard throughout IL or only Chicago?
It's worth it, I think, to have USCCA insurance if you have a CCL.
The TV stations sometimes cover stories like this. You'd never read about it in the pro-crime WBEZ/Scum-Times rag.
I'd have no problem pitching in for a "Go Fund Me" ammo program for CCL holders.
One box of ammo for each perp shot.
Two boxes for each perp shot at and missed.
(They need a little more practice.)
Anyone know the status on this case? Didn't a federal court find the FOID unconstitutional? Why is it still even in existence?
