Responsibility Rolls Downhill
- On Wednesday, an all-too-familiar tragic scene played out, when a student at a Georgia high school opened fire on his teachers and classmates. The student killed four and injured nine others with a semiautomatic rifle. He stands charged with murder. But police also promptly arrested his father and charged him with four counts of involuntary manslaughter and eight counts of cruelty to children. Police have alleged that the father "knowingly allowed him to possess" the rifle. Although police have not released the full details of the case against the father, this case has the potential to drastically expand criminal liability against parents for the criminal acts of their children.
The Michigan school shooter parents got ten-to-fifteen years for failing to intervene in their son's mental health issues and failing to secure a weapon used.
The Highland Park parade shooter's father pled guilty to co-signing a FOID card for his obviously mentally ill (alternative lifestyle shooter) kid and got sixty days.
The father of the recent school shooter in Georgia (another alternative lifestyle shooter with mental issues) supposedly bought his kid a gun - the exact gun he described in social media posts about a "fantasy school shooting" - even after being interviewed by the feebs.
Hooray for responsibility!
However.....
The feebs knew about the Georgia school shooter and did nothing about it. They dished to the local sheriff.....who did nothing about it.
Anyone know where the "responsibility" begins and ends, especially with the so-called "professionals" in the FBI office?
And when does Crimesha start charging parents in Cook County for not knowing their kids have mental issues, access to guns and are hanging with persons of ill-repute on a daily basis.

Looks like the norm for mass school shootings is starting to be offenders who are transgender or want to be transgender. As soon as the MSM realizes that the offender is one of the ALPHABET class of people the story is dropped from their news cycles.
...start charging parents in Cook County for not knowing their kids have mental issues, access to guns and are hanging with persons of ill-repute on a daily basis.....
This sounds ....racist.
.
Columbine happened 25 years ago. This kid from Georgia would have never made it into the United Center during the DNC but he made it into a school loaded with innocent children armed with a long gun.
Sickening.
every mama would be locked up but no baby daddy's until after they appeared on maury
In the lefts minds, legal guns are the problem not illegal guns...
Sounds more like, blame law enforcement. According to that report.
YOu mention the sentence the Highland Park father received for signing the FOID card....perhaps I have this wrong, but isn't this sort of thing verging on a damned-if-you-do/don't thing?
If the dad refuses to sign the FOID card on the grounds that his 'son' is clearly mentally ill, now he's transphobic and a bastard (and, in Canada, eligible to be charged with an indictable hate crime).
If he signs, now he is liable for whatever fucked-up thing the 'son' does, because he irresponsibly abetted those actions by condoning them with his support.
Am I missing something here? Are parents now to be legislatively placed in impossible positions, where any available option leads to some flavour of prosecution?
Bring on the SMOD, post-haste.

That would indicate you expect people to be responsible.
That is not part of Illinois Democrat policy.
You may offend a victim./ Offender
Ass backwards Democrat state,, just watch the elected Democrats blow gas on that theory
This is another attack on our second amendment rights. It is an attack on gun rights. These communist gun grabbers will never stop in their goal of taking away our second amendment rights.
school shooters parent's should be locked up if the recklessly gave their kids guns. Great. But it is the selective enforcement that is the problem. They go for the low-hanging fruit - the obvious cases, and the other 99.99% are not even investigated. Think the root beer slushy victim will charge a Cook Co. parent of the 'demographic?' No way in hell.
shout out to ASA Kim Ward for charging the root beer bandit. Go Kim!
What about the schools. You can’t tell me they don’t know about the kids with real mental problems.
the fbi is way too busy looking out for those darn white supremist who send their white kids to school and don't want them to be told by the teachers that they should get a sex change and don't forget about those white Christians..
The FBI needs to establish a webpage "Our Radar Screen" so the populace can be aware BEFORE this type of nonsense becomes a tragedy.
I don’t know SCC. What could the sheriff or fbi do about it? What crime was committed? Maybe a mental health check? I’m very old and long ago hung up my Star, so I’m interested in what your readers are going to suggest that the fed or locals should have done.
Yep. Why aren't they looking at the parents of all the wild yutes in Chicago who ruin our city?
I'm all for accountability but what is the FBI or Sheriff's Department supposed to do about these kids? They are making threatening statements related to school shootings by the thousands every year now. Short of them actually committing a crime, you investigate, close it out and leave it in the school's hands to take appropriate administrative action. What agency in this country has the resources to follow these kids around forever? What am I missing here?
That's the vibe I was feeling...police are the problem...move on now.
Lord have mercy if they Ever charge a ghetto mama for the spawns doing....It'll be worse than the St. Floyd of Fentenal prayers...
Baby daddy...furget it...Never happen...Never....cause she be hoing out, not mine
You go girl....
If the dad refuses to sign the FOID card on the grounds that his 'son' is clearly mentally ill, now he's transphobic and a bastard (and, in Canada, eligible to be charged with an indictable hate crime).
By NOT signing He'd be doing what a RESPONSIBLE parent would do! And this isn't Canada...
Now THAT would be a great idea! But it's the feds after all....
Non-copper here... The law can only do so much... The parents dropped the ball here... But honestly, I have very little faith in these counselors or shrinks. Sometimes I think they are more fucked up than their patients!
Dey Be Democrat’s
I tried to help a 80 y.o. 110 lb grandmother with her 16 y.o. 6'3" 260 lb, low functioning, fetal alcohol syndrome, serial criminal grandson, of whom she had guardianship of since his ODed when he was two. CPS did the GU. Dad in prison.
CPS threatened to arrest her if she didn't get control of him, as he was setting fires, but refused to help with treatment or secure placement for him. Finally gave up and suggested that she dare CPS to arrest her, because then they would have to put him elsewhere.

Feds and blue states spend squat for school security but waste billions on illegal aliens.
Gotta protect the big pharma!
Perhaps we need a follow up program for any student making suggestions of violence
Child must be accompanied to school by parent or responsible adult
Child must undergo search of person and any items that could carry a weapon
All weapons within sphere of the child must be secured with no possibility of retrieval
All school staff aware of situation
Graduated lengths that these measures in force depending on potential of threat
Kids do and say stupid stuff Not sure of veracity make parents responsible or deny access to school
Amen. I love this blog, but SCC you know if "the Feebs" were busting into every school you'd have a shit fit. Seems like here they did due diligence to the most allowed under law, informed the all-mighty local County Sheriff for any follow-up and... nothing happened. Until it did.
Pick which you want - Napoleonic-style Gendarmes/Caraibinieri, or Feds who stick to national-level shit with local police sticking to the turf they know best. Can't have it both ways.
OT: Some good press for CPD for once, at WGN:
"The officers were really good last night and helped us through it,” said the woman. “It was just unnerving and I’m jittery still, so. I’m just thankful we weren’t harmed last night, and they got the guy.”
Good job 03(?)

Simple Solution: Create a detail & task force that follows school schedules, soup to nutz. In most States that be 179 days 8am to 4pm. Pay FBI-Staties-CPD etc full years salary just like teachers. They can sit on every threat from home to school. High tech tools scan the kids from afar for weapons. No weapon kid goes to school, no stigma. Detail gets great pay & great vacation picks for doing low risk details. Like reverse bodyguards? No Hard Chargers need not apply. Dating Teachers allowed.
Highland Park freak was feeb wind-up toy.
You took the words out of my mouth, SCC. Well done.
Just think if you also got the brothers, sisters, aunt, uncle and grandparents involved.
I WISH parents in Crook County would be charged for the actions of their bad ass kids. I would love that.
The more the Left blames guns for these incidents, the more likely that a solution will not be found to these shootings, because guns are not the problem. The people who pull the triggers, and whatever psychoses ail them, are the problems.
Proof is in the percentage of how many law-abiding gun-owners without mental illness are perpetrating these acts.
It's time again to read "Silence of the Lambs" and what kind of person the bad guy was in this great story.
Does it seem odd that back in the 50's and 60's when you could get a gun mailed to your house these kind of things were practically unheard of?
There was the tower shooter in Texas, who had told his shrink he fantasized about going on that tower with a rifle and shooting people before he did that very thing.
Stories like that make me doubt the "Proper mental health treatment is the key to stopping this" angle.
Other than that one case school and college shooting were virtually unheard of.
Almost as if 2 parent families and a populace that attended church and believed in God might have make some sort of difference.
Aw, who am I kidding, it's video games.
