Only seventeen. Someone had mentioned twenty-five?
There was also a comment about one-hundred sergeants, but that sounded higher than what the Department was short. We'll see this week....maybe.

The list is posted after 1700 with the stipulation that the affected members be notified by 1800. Additionally, if members can’t be notified in time, an email is to be sent to HR who undoubtedly hit the door at 1700 on the dot (if not well before) and sure as hell won’t be checking their city email before 0900 Monday.

The recent sergeant’s test was poorly planned. It was held during the week. Candidates had to deal with the everyday crowd at the McCormick Place. Candidates were allowed to show up late. Parking was a mess. A few candidates were missing pages out of their test booklet. They should either throw the test out or stick to the previous list. So far only 200 people were promoted off of existing list.

The whole promotional process needs to be revamped seeing how someone who has been an admin Sgt for 15+ years gets bumped up through the merit process. What could they have said to the merit board to earn a promotion? I keep files in order? I send out to/froms?
The merit board could not have found a Sgt how has been in the trenches worthy of promotion? I guess not.
CPD continues to spiral down through its leadership.

City is budgeted for 1415 sgts. I believe PBPA days 1422 is what us budgeted but 1415 is what was on paper from what was actually presented in city hall a year ago. There is about 1250 sgts right now so 100 is not out of the question and still within budget.

Congrats to the ones who made it legit...albeit very few. There will always be questions about who had the answers to the test and when they had them. But it looks like there are 17 more jokers to add to the deck. The question remains...when will CPD again shuffle the deck?

The CPD is short 180 sergeants and they are only making classes of 30-50. If 3000+ sat for the exam, fairness would be to promote 550-600 off of the list. This is why I never take CPD exams. I’ve watched my coworkers pay $2500 for a study group just to have the department throw the list out after promoting only 230 off of the list.

They went to # 105 off of the current list. The exam was given in 2022 and the first class was in May or June of 22. Several clouted families scored very well…almost like they had the questions beforehand… Anyways another class or two off the current list might yield some competent bosses who didn't score as well as the cheaters but still did pretty good on the test. Historically 140 or below has been considered good enough to make Lt the legit way.
Hopefully Flisk can behave the rest of her career. Flisk and her brother should hang it up already

During the fake pandemic that stroke was sent to my district to play field sergeant for a period. Tried to give roll call “test” where he was wrong half the time on field procedure. No wonder he came from the academy…
Agreed. Complete sham. Not to mention the hacks who finished part two in an hour. Either they knew they got merit or had the answers. Many people who don’t suck dick for answers barely finished or didn’t finish the test.

99% of those in the group are fucking useless. 1 hid behind a flower planter down town when the shit hit the fan. 1 went to Narc 6 weeks out of Sgt class (after 3 weeks on the medical), then to another unit, then another unit (now is fucking up a watch in a northern dist) Another one is afraid of the streets, and was as a patrolwoman, then again as a Sgt.. just enough wack to get into the class, not enough to stay in a unit as an Lt, and is fucking up a watch in a southern dist.
Merit should go down to 5% MAX or just be eliminated completely.

There are blue shirts working their days off in overtime initiatives to pay tuitions because Chicago's schools are despicable. However, the "earned not given" crews and their puppet masters continually push out the husband/wife duos and gift them inside "spots". Then, the duo, who will never work a full tour, while making $300K plus a year, will attempt to complain to other's how hard their jobs are and how they are "just trying to pay their bills off". It's repulsive and insulting to the hard workers while our so-called leaders keep doing this to the Department. Really Chief? Your admin secretary's husband needed another bump and the wife enrolled in a secret study group? The "leaders" do not want to be too obvious and gift two merit spots to husband/wife duos. After all of the fuckery, the Department then preaches "Officer Wellness" and can't understand the rock bottom morale. Pathetic. But, look on the bright side. The D-Unit needs to cut overtime because the money only goes to the privileged, not the one's actually working cases.

Very true! I've seen people who did not study at all, whose IQ is below room temperature and they scored in the high 90s just by guessing the answers. Paying for a study group is a waste of money and a scam of sorts.
I'm glad to be retired now. I took 4 promotional exams in my career (two sergeants and two detectives.) I made Detective rank order my second attempt. It was frustrating to see all the cheaters and losers, many of whom I knew or worked with, enjoy multiple bites at the merit apple. A few were deserving but most weren't! They simply had the privilege of high-ranking family on the job who took care of them. This City and Department need an enema!
