Holiday Weekend
We're taking a well deserved night off tonight. We might be out drinking, we might be at a retirement party, we might even catch a movie or something. Maybe all three.
We won't be one of the fifty persons in attendance at a recent White Sox game. And yes, we actually read somewhere that a head count of attendees at a major league ball park was under fifty for the game. Searching the box scores for that day, there is no attendance figure given.
Stay safe. Enjoy your own day off if you have it, because no one is getting days off for the upcoming Mexican Independence Day festivities.

Day of cancelled should be double time.
Holiday cancelled should be triple time.

Per HR, vendor will release the results from the Sergeants test mid to end of September. Not sure what is going on with the Lieutenants class or Sergeants class scheduled for September.

Minor League baseball, especially at the Triple A
level, is a much better value than the major league product. Major league baseball is high priced entertainment for businesses and their clients/customers. Minor league ball is affordable for families.

I live in Chicago, Cook County, Lake Township (far southside)
I just received my 2024 Reassessment Notice from the Cook County Assessor's Office. My Total Assessed Value increased by 62.45% meaning a hefty property tax increase going forward. I have until Oct 11th to appeal.
Despite this, the estimated market value of my home has decreased by $15,000 since I purchased my home 19 years ago. My taxes go up as my equity goes down! F'ing Democrats!!

I'm also in Lake Township/Mt Greenwood. My house went up over $130.000 in value since last year according to crook county. The Democrats need the money to pay off the criminals and illegals to vote for them. My timeframe to move out just moved up a year. I hate Democrats, especially Illinois Democrats. Best wishes on the appeal. The Assessor admitted my increase from about $48K EAV to $95K was wrong; lowered it to $81K. Board of Review lowered it to $71K before tax bills went out. Now I'm at the Property Tax Appeal Board waiting to hear what the final value is, but was still on the hook for about $2,100 this bill, and $2,400 for the whole of 2023. Hse is 81 years old, need work, only worth about 60K on open market when I tried selling in 2022.
