I never had any respect for merit and never will.
Nobody asked me---but Drew Marzen is a good copper ....and thank heaverns another connected Crotty made it
Crotty is a great officer. He's gonna go far. I'm glad his number made it.
Fascinating.
All merit promotions should have an asterisk next to their star for the rest of their career.
Anytime the word merit appears on these corrupt lists it should be accompanied with several question marks ????
Congrats to the people who studied and made it on test scores alone. To the others, not so much...This is not the job it used be. Get ready to work for politicians instead of genuine supervisors who actually know their (and your) job. If you don't believe me then ask yourself when was the last time a sergeant or lieutenant bid for a position in any "D" unit. I have supervisors that were never detectives, or were detectives for 6 weeks until they made sergeant and now, they supervise a D unit office. You can't learn this job in 6 weeks. I sat through classes at the academy with people who knew that their promotion to sergeant was in the works. They read newspapers, didn't pay attention and came in late and left early. But now they will proudly say "I was a detective before I became sergeant"...Tell them to have a nice cup of STFU and just click on "approve narrative"...
Give them a different star altogether. Maybe a shade of pink.
I'm patiently waiting for someone to comment about how one of the newly promoted is such a good guy and will be a great Detective, with all of his 3 years on the job. Hardcore, on the job experience, minus a year and a half while a PPO. He did make it by score but one should have a minimum of 6 years to be promoted. Anyone who disagrees, please request him if you need charges upgraded. See how that works.
There are no merit promotions in federal law enforcement agencies nor DEI hired. Only the best and brightest are selected after a rigorous screening and selection process. You will never see an FBI, ATF, USSS, or DEA special agent with a waist sizer greater than 38.
Nobody noticed that counterterrorism’s social media investigations team received 2 merit promotions?
Just like the scarlet letter
Where the fuck are the Sergeant results from the recent test!?!? I thought FOP one of FOP dudes said HR was releasing the. Mid September to late September?!? Fucking joke !
That's really an ignorant and arrogant post. Half the D Unit who made it by test score never made a part 1 arrest in their career before making dick (house mouses, desk crew, admin staff, medical abusers, etc, etc). The majority of detectives work really hard on never leaving the area (interferes with shopping online and closing cases over the phone with legit victims). That doesn't include the RBT detectives who supposedly go to a district to work (good luck finding them). How about finding a detective on their Friday????? (not happening!!!!). I could go on and on about the entitled cowards and do nothings in the D unit. One thing I will say is get as many Sgt's and Lt's in the Areas who weren't dicks so they might actually show up for work and do something before it turns into OT.
Proudly signed by a test score Sgt and LT
You've obviously never worked with the Feebs before.
Hey Ruben the wannabe detective in the 12th District, I don’t see your name on this list. HaHa!! Just retrieve the video and shut up!
DEI is alive and well in ALL federal positions. Especially the FBI and Secret Service. Lardass bimbos abound!
3 years? Better be joking.
Agreed! No one with less time on the job than me should be promoted.
Been on the job for 20 plus years now, never had a desire to be nothing else but a beat cop. That being said, most detectives today couldn't solve anything even if their life depended on it. And don't get me started with the white shirts, because most white shirts today are clueless on anything from taking charge on a scene or assisting other coppers on their jobs.
If you take tests as well as you constructed that sentence, I don't think you need to worry about the test results.

Really? Can the feebs withstand a 30 year career of Chicago horseshit without their finely tuned waistlines going to complete shit? Police used to be the police. Not so much today. I did it. Me and my 44 inch waistline put a lot of bad guys in prison, for what that's worth.
“Nothing else but a beat cop” aka could never score well enough or be liked by any boss for a merit pick. What a joke. Thank you for your service.
Kinda like the LT's watching Netflix with their feet up? Zilch in counseling the officers who take 6 hrs to do a case report! In your words..That's really an ignorant and arrogant post! And that means what in a city where people were handed the answers? Give me a break!
Worked with coppers from multi jurisdictions. Several would have made great supervisors. A few declined, aware of the pitfalls that awaited. The ones that did move up were missed. Replacements were usually less than admirable. I salute you.

Hey Merit Dushbag, I never took any test throughout my career because I am one of those few coppers that are comfortable being a beat copper, worked in good districts, good coppers and had great bosses. That was the first 10-13 yrs, after that the department has gone to shit. Just look around you buster. Was offered merit twice in my career, but declined for personal reasons. Hey buster and yes I still work the ghetto on the beat because I like my freedom to do anything, bosses do not bother me because I do my job and know the job. And you're the fucken joke, if I hurt you're feelings please seek help with EAP or somehow we can meet and talk about it.
Nothing wrong with enjoying working your career as a beat cop 👮🏻♀️ you my friend are more qualified than at least 30% of white shirts sarge and Lt,but more qualified than 75% of command staff. Most of them as you know, couldn’t handle a crime scene ,case report for a shooting, sexual assault, wouldn’t know how to write up a traffic crash report or inventory evidence. Many never testified at 26th & California
This why when the deck is shuffled nothing changes...CPD is a ship of fools on a voyage of the damned! The first rats off the ship are usually the Sgt's and Lt's
Noticed or even cared at this point? There are cops on the list who worked the street for about 9 months of their probation and have been inside ever since, in the SDSC room or the desk. But do we even care to point that out nowadays? It happens, there’s nothing we can do about it. There is no grievance to be filed on a merit promotion process or who gets picked.
You're the asshole. Smartest guy in the room. Everyone is an idiot- Detectives, white shirts, etc. Also if you never took a promotional test, you can't be considered for merit. Grow up.
I believe this post has gone in the wrong direction. It’s not about disrespecting the rank of Police Officer, we can all agree that a Chicago Police Officer is a noble profession. If anyone knows this guy Ruben assigned to the12th district, they will all laugh at the initial comment because Ruben tries really hard to be a detective but he will never attain that title. Ruben and Tim Walz have something in common, they lie about their rank and believe they are something that they are not.
Sounds like someone with 6 years didn’t make it by score. Suck it up cupcake.
Congratulations Roberta, wish you well! Great meeting you at the benefit last month.
Ur probably some pissed off idiot who couldn’t even make tact. Ruben is an officer that any real officer would want in his call- he has a higher closure rate on his cases than u can ever dream of. That’s the problem when one pissed off shithead can’t recognize a stand up officer and learn a thing or two from someone who actually knows what they are doing!!!
Going to go out on a limb and guess that this braindead comment came from one of the astute investigators of the 012th District who by and large couldn’t solve a newspaper crossword puzzle. A group that literally hasn’t put a single investigation together on their own and secured charges on a single case since the switch from A/C to A/3. The same genius “burglary” detectives asking victims to watch surveillance footage of offenders and then administering photo lineups to them as if that somehow means they witnessed the crime. Pretty rich comment. RR is the single most dedicated, intelligent, proactive, and competent PO I’ve ever worked around. He’s relentless in his work ethic and a credit to our department. He is an infinitely better detective than 60% of the empty suits we have in the D Unit. He’s absolutely handcuffed to the incompetence around him right now and it’s not going unnoticed. What an inherently bitch move, put your name on a comment like that. Be a man.
