Extremely Slow Justice
Seven years is a long time to wait for charges:
- More than seven years after two Chicago police officers were shot
while working in Back of the Yards, a second man was charged with the
crime on Saturday.
Edgar Barron, 25, was 17 years old when he allegedly shot plainclothes officers Leo Augle and Colin Ryan on May 2, 2017. On Saturday afternoon, Judge Deidre Dyer ordered Barron detained pending trial on two counts of attempted murder. Court records show he has never been charged with any other crime in Cook County.
“Great news!” Ald. Ray Lopez (15th) tweeted Sunday. “I’m glad the judge detained him so he can’t run back to Mexico again.”
The accomplice (driver) got five years and walked out - time served - a few years ago.
This asshole (shooter) has supposedly been back from his "holiday" for a few years.

Dear shooter: F#×K Your ass!
I am not taking away the fact that two officers got shot but the people who are at fault here are Fred Waller and retired Deputy Chief Kevin Ryan. Fred was the Chief of Patrol when he disregarded the NOJO and put young Colin Ryan just a short 8 months after his probation in plain clothes in a covert car without any proper training or guidance as a clout favor for Kevin. Look at what the NOJO requirements were in 2017 and you’ll find that he didn’t have enough time on the job and wasn’t even qualified to be in a unit. This is what happens when bosses and their offspring get special treatment and skip paying their dues and actually learning the job. The young lad and his partner were lucky they didn’t get killed. For their unfortunate involvement in this incident I believe Leo was promoted to Sergeant a few months later and Colin a Detective shortly thereafter. Again, all unfortunate but it’s his father and Waller that should have been held responsible for allowing them to have been placed in that situation to begin with.
I guess there was no hurry.
This is why I tried to give less than zero every day for my last 4 years.
Dear bosses Ryan and Waller (alive?)
You suck. Everyone should do their time in a beat car,you gotta learn.
Years ago there was a young guy named Eddie, got put on tact, obviously because he was a great cop.
Might have been because his dad was Eddie W., Deputy of investigative Services.
Jr. was a great guy, Indiana State Police love him.
I think he has a point there.
SEVEN YEARS for charges to be filed...? WTF
Derek Chauvin was arrested, charged, tried, convicted, sentenced and incarcerated in a grand total of 388 days.
Amazing how fast the injustice railroad can work once it gets the steam up.
Someone in the State's Attorneys office must have slipped this one in while Foxx was busy trying to get some other dirtbag out of prison.
And Leo isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer either by driving around a gang infested neighborhood in circles drawing attention. Gangbangers know their area & will challenge anyone that doesn’t belong.
Offender came back because Brandon Johnson will embrace him with open arms. Gangbanging was hard in Mexico. The federales kick your ass and take no shit. Cook county is where it’s at (+ link benefits) if you want to practice your trade
CPD is like a medieval feudal system where family ties and willingness to bend the rules (without getting caught) gets rewarded more than hard work, integrity, moral & ethical values, and knowledge of the job. Even today's NOJOs describing a "rigorous" application process for units are just a way to appear legitimate while the connected are already selected brute the process begins.
Michael Madigan accused of engaging in a "campaign of bribery" as his corruption trial finally begins a big f-ck you to both lisa n mike madigan
you keep forgetting about all the politically connected who got their kids into cushy unit including cline
You have a point but I’ll tell you this. CR was an outstanding officer and is a great detective. (Off of score) The only thing he got from this is years of pain and surgeries. I would rather work with him over 90% of the people on this job.
Well, he was somewhere in Mexico for years so there’s that.
Exact reason why I don’t do ANYTHING anymore for anyone. Promotions are rigged. Assignments and units are rigged. The system is rigged, so just show up, take your calls, cut paper and wait for the check via electronic mail.
Augle was a Sgt in 010 when I was there after he got shot. He was a great supervisor.
You must be a troll or you used to spend your days writing parkers. Offender fled to another country. You clearly did not read the news reports to the end.
Who's the moron who wrote: "he has never been charged with any other crime in Cook County." He was in Mexico.
Like wise great cop great person
