Shelters Closing
They're calling it a "merging" of systems, probably so Conehead can steer more money into fewer connected pockets:
The city will end designated shelters for newly arrived asylum-seekers by the end of this year, part of the city’s anticipated plan to merge its shelter systems, Mayor Brandon Johnson announced Monday at a news conference.
The transition of the two shelter systems — one for newly arrived immigrants and another for unhoused people in Chicago — will start this week with changes that include offering first-time placement in a migrant shelter only to those who have been in the United States less than 30 days.
The merger into the One System Initiative comes two years after former Mayor Lori Lightfoot set up temporary shelters to house newly arrived migrants that were sent to Chicago on buses and planes by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican aiming to send immigrants to cities led by Democrats.
As long as it doesn't end up with Police Station lobbies full of illegals, bedbugs and tuberculosis strains.
We're thinking the other reason Conehead feels comfortable doing this now is what the internal polling numbers show at the national level - there probably won't be nearly as many illegals in another couple of months.

They have been moved into Section 8 homes and apartments. People don’t realize the number of homes that the owners have turned into section 8 even in nice neighborhoods. Gov’t pays market rates no matter what for section 8. I knew a couple that owned a tiny condo that they rented out as section 8 on LSD and they were getting $5,000 a month … that was the market rate. Yes $60,000 a year in rent!!!! Paid by you the taxpayer. So hedge funds, private equity and wealthy land owners have been snapping up houses and condos and then renting them out. That’s why real estate prices keeps climbing even with high interest rates. Bottom line is that all this rent is paid by the State of Illinois and it is much more expensive than shelters. Unfortunately no one wants to tally the costs and let taxpayers know. Rent has skyrocketed because renters are competing with the government’s deep pockets who pay the ever escalating market rent rates to house migrants. Watch TV and you’ll see the liberal millionaires and billionaires support more migrants … why? Because they own large real estate portfolios and make a ton of guaranteed money. The stock market isn’t guaranteed…this is. Migrants are now in houses, condos and apartments.
