Speed Ordinance Delayed?
- The Chicago City Council delayed a vote to lower the city's speed limit Tuesday, after a committee approved the measure Monday.
City Council could lower the citywide speed limit from 30 miles per hour to 25.
The ordinance was introduced by Alderman Daniel La Spata back in July, with the backing of transit and biking advocates. He said this is all about making people safer.
[...] Mayor Brandon Johnson said he asked La Spata to pull the legislation for now, while still expressing support for making streets safer.
"transit" exists to get people around the city faster.
"biking advocates" are lobbyists for people who don't obey a single traffic law that we've ever seen. Except in cases of "dooring," we estimate that of all the traffic accidents we handled involving a bicycle, the cyclist was 100% at fault.
Something is going on with Conehead asking for a delay though.

This goes to show the Alderman have absolutely nothing to do. We have way too many overpaid, taking multi millions making up ideas that are senseless. When you have nothing to do, you do things that are as very Obama would say acting stupidly time to dump a few of these Alderman, maybe we could have five of them that would be the maximum enough is enough

The bicyclist's are the most ignorant people around along with those on these fucking e-scooters! We have seen such an uptick in accidents with scooters lately. The City should mandate if you want to ride your bicycle, you must have a bicycle license, which means you have gone thru at least 2 weeks of bicycle rules of the road (classroom study) and bicycle safety (meaning what to put on your bicycle and what to wear) then pay a $30 fee a yr for the bike license!! The city could make so much more money on assholes who refuse to follow the rules of the road.
The saying "Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life" comes to mind. This must be to make life easier for all the folks driving around high as a kite.
It's a revenue grab. Once the speed limit is 25 mph, all the speed cameras on major arterials (Irving Park, North Ave., Western, Ashland) will ticket all cars at 31 mph or higher. That is an automatic consequence of this lower speed limit. Timmy (43rd) is all in on this!
Owners of vehicles pay a lot of money to own that vehicle, insurance, city sticker, registration sticker, and lets not forget every time we get gas the the tax per gallon for roads. These bike asshats pay NOTHING! More than half the street is a bike lane, and for some reason bike people feel rules of the road don't pertain to them. Leave the speed limit alone, lets also remember it will cost big money to change all the signs. This city has nothing better to worry about? How deep in debt is the city? How many people/folks shot or killed? Fire department vehicles that are not useable, what a fkn joke this city has become.

The speed limit won’t change, just the speed limit signs will change. They will still be doing 50mph down the streets.
