Gee, a Chicago democrat not following the rules?
Mayor Brandon Johnson accepted scores of valuable gifts “on behalf of the city” — including jewelry, alcohol, AirPods, designer handbags and size 14 men’s shoes — and failed to report those gifts while denying internal investigators access to the room where the items are purportedly stored.
That’s the bottom line of Inspector General Deborah Witzburg’s latest advisory, which raises troubling questions about apparent attempts to curry favor with Johnson and his predecessor Lori Lightfoot, and the failure by both Johnson and Lightfoot to be transparent about that gift-giving.
Perhaps most troubling to the inspector general was how difficult it was to secure the information, which is supposed to be promptly reported to the Chicago Board of Ethics and the city comptroller so the items can be added to “an inventory of the city’s property .”
Remember this next time you're required to fill out that annual "Ethics Statement" along with the other one you have to sign upon retirement.

If Johnson and his crew were police officers whom they despise, COPA would sustain numerous allegations which would most certainly lead to hefty suspensions and possibly termination. Sustained allegations include failing to inventory property taken into custody, impeding a department investigation with boldface lies, in your face Rule 14 violations, failure to cooperate with other agencies in an investigation, ethic violations (remember the training modules) accepting gifts, actions that impede the goals and policies of the department, conduct unbecoming for a start.
An officer would be terminated and have to fight to remain gainfully employed. And have this black mark published destroying one's character, one's professional reputation, one's employability and one's good standing in society whether true or not. Thanks for risking your life everyday and your service. But democrat political entities allow an unelected unaccountable anti-police agency, under the deceptive civilian identification label, do the dirty work for politicians and special interests to destroy officers in so many ways advancing their narratives. And on so many fronts.
Maybe elected officials should get a taste of their own medicine and walk in a Police Hero's shoes. Apply the police accountability standards of discipline and conduct for public officials, namely the city hall crew. I'm certain they would exempt themselves weaseling out of any and all responsibility. Retired from the city along time ago. I was a nobody that never got a free cup of coffee on the job. My city ethics statement got lost in the mail getting returned and they chased me down and threatened and harassed me until they got it. Zero gifts and no relations on job or with contracts. Amazing I could of been fired but the vips just ignore the ethics reporting. These people suck.
