Embattled Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard showed up at a meeting of the Thornton Township board, where she also serves as supervisor — only for it to devolve into a brawl with reports of minor injuries, a lost shoe and finger-pointing over who was to blame for it all.
Henyard’s lawyer said Wednesday says she was “verbally assaulted and her personal safety threatened” at the Tuesday night meeting.
Thornton Township trustees issued their own statement bemoaning what they described as “chaos and violence.” “We are deeply disturbed by the events that transpired during last night’s board meeting,” the trustees said Wednesday morning.
The video is something else. We've only seen political brawls like this is second-and-third-world kleptocracies, for Dolton certainly qualifies.
Henyard is seen in the middle of the brawl, attempting to aid her "boyfriend," who happens to be (allegedly) married to someone else, losing a nail, a shoe, and perhaps some hair extensions in the ensuing battle. The punches and weaves were flying.
This, mere days after former mayor Groot released her investigation into financial mismanagement, excessive spending and pretty much outright fraud, though Groot didn't bother to call it that.
