Someone occasionally doing their job correctly:
Stephon Arnold walked into a Chicago Police Department station last October looking for a job, but prosecutors said details he revealed during his interview led them to uncovering he and his brother were connected to a nearly decade-old kidnapping and rape investigation.
Arnold, 30, and his brother, Sherrow Harris, 35, were both arrested and charged on Friday with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated criminal sexual assault after investigators said they violently assaulted two 18-year-old women back in 2016....
Of course, our comment section is alive with horror stories of background checks going awry, not being done correctly, or purposefully being disregarded due to hiring and/or political issues. Look at the recent coverage regarding the woman beater or the habitual traffic offender asshole - you can't tell us there weren't warning flags in those background checks. We're old enough to remember who buried the Abbate warning signs back in the day.
But helping solve a nearly decade old sex assault is good news.

Plenty of people have beaten the polygraph. Looking at the ones they caught, it makes one wonder how many they didn't catch.
The whole hiring process has become disgraceful. Just anti-police haters in charge. Sickening. Disgusting.
That shows they promote people who have no new ideas and don’t know how to do police work. The upper management are clueless. I just can’t wait to retire.
All this is coming back on the taxpayers in lawsuits. The politicians got what they wanted. The city is being destroyed and they act surprised.
Somewhere over at the training academy (where ever she hides), Sgt TH is walking with her head up higher than normal as she likes to call herself the “Commanding Officer” of the polygraph unit.

Great job by the Area 2 sex detectives. Not only did they give the victims some long awaited justice, but they saved CPD further embarrassment by keeping this applicant from getting hired. There are legitimate concerns regarding the background investigation process; why the delay in case reporting when his polygraph was done in 2024?
This is what being “the change” looks like. It doesn’t matter if you’re a shit head as long as you meet the demographics of what these progressive assholes want.
Just as good as the guy who reported that he robbed a dollar tree and gave up his cohorts as well. Nothing like a good sound public school education.
There are currently GDs and 2-6 in the academy, open and admittedly. One was fired and had to be sent back to the academy per HR and BIA, because being in a gang is a "cultural misstep" or some BS like that. There's a kid that makes threats towards other recruits and uses his GD background to intimidate other kids. 26 kid professes he will be a better cop because of his 26 background, knowing where all the guns and drugs are. Smh...where are we at now with hiring! Wtf

never heard of anybody walking in the Cpd lobby looking for a job and then they do the interview. That's not how it works.
Overall CPD polygraph is just a big waste of time. Created fake position for that phone call sergeant or PO to hide in. CPD K9 or merit sergeant has more legitimacy. And both of those we all know are as legitimate a as a bastard child.
There is a reason they (polygraph exams) are not allowed into court cases. They are just a tool to use to scare or intimidate a person. Did a few in my time at CPD, never again when two people “passed” who were actually totally guilty and later convicted by provable evidence.

Polygraph is pseudoscience, as is the “psych” test. All of it is actual garbage science. I’m surprised it has stayed popular for so long.

CPD won't do anything then let the federal authorities know they hired a self-admitted gang member from an known violent street gang recognized by the FBI. They would rather hire criminals and gang members on this job than decent applications? Yeah no. F this city, department and the bullshit spinning plates game of progressive "cultural/reform/justice/oppression etc" game they play. Criminals a criminal.
I had a guy like that in my class back in 2013. He would straight up say who he ran with and how the Police were corrupt af and he was going to specifically treat black people better than anyone else cause of how bad CPD treated them through history. Instructors and what not wouldn’t even argue it and no one wanted to engage him over it. It’s absolutely a quality hiring and probationary process…

This is the main reason so few of the majority law-abiding people in Little Village don't call 911, even for shots fired. The gangs have infested the local dept and mark anyone who speaks with the cops.
