In the face of threatened funding cuts for Chicago and the entire state, governor Porkulous is called to DC:
President Donald Trump is threatening to withhold federal funding from sanctuary cities, and that could have a huge impact on Chicago.
The city is expecting more than $3 billion in grants this year from the feds.
Meanwhile, more than a month after Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson was grilled on Capitol Hill, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker could be next in line. In a letter, the Republican House Oversight Committee Chair requested ".documents and communications" related to Illinois' sanctuary policies and invited Pritzker to testify at a May 15 hearing.
Federal funds are funny things - if you accept fed money, you abide by fed rules. Period. There's no getting around it in the end. It's how the "21 to purchase alcohol" became the national norm and the 55 mph speed limit (since rescinded) was adopted years ago. Lawsuits by blue-state shitholes merely delay the inevitable.
If fed money is withheld, Porky isn't going to bend the knee and cut programs. Guess where Fata$$ is going to find the money to keep the giveaway spigot open?

If the city doesn’t get the 3 billion, it will cripple a lot of the CPD budget also. A lot of CPD overtime is paid out by the Feds.. specifically fugitive, CTA, Narcotics and gang investigations. They aren’t just talking about certain things to get cut, all of that money also includes our money.. that will also be gone. Many traffic missions we do that have a specific code are also federally funded.. that will be gone too. All in all, if you look at the overtime coding, we spend about 30-35 million a year of federally funded OT.. that will be gone which will cripple some of the more specialized units.
I pray he just goes away and disappears into history. He has destroyed the State of Illinois.

There was so much $ that Chicago and Cook country created "universal income" programs out of thin air because they couldn't find ways to spend it fast enough. These hearings are a dog and pony show which will accomplish nothing other then some news sound bites. Trump stopping already allocated grants passed by congress will not fly past the courts. Congress can stop future grants if they so choose. If congress does that, then the states and cities will listen.
Start by a public audit of every private program that gets funding from the state. Lets have accountability and not just a slush fund for the connected. Start with the " violence interrupters "
