SAFE-T Act Strikes Again
You know what cash bail was good for? Getting people (and folks) to show up in court.
If there was a chance they'd either get most of their money back or they'd forfeit it all for missing court, you can bet they'd show up. Cash is a great motivator - it's why so many people do overtime.
Two adults arrested on minor charges during a “teen takeover” in Streeterville late last month failed to show up for their court dates, Ald. Brian Hopkins (2nd) said Monday evening. A judge has now issued warrants for their arrests.
Swarms of people filled the streets near Columbus and Illinois on the evening of March 28. It wasn’t long before a 15-year-old boy got shot in front of the NBC tower. An 18-year-old was stabbed during a takeover-related fight in the Loop, too.
Among those arrested as the situation boiled over were 18-year-old Evan Jackson and Trinity Barrett, 20. They were both charged with misdemeanor reckless conduct after CPD arrested them about a block apart around 9:40 p.m, according to court records.
Barrett was released from the Near North (18th) District station with instructions to appear in court on April 24. According to Hopkins and court records, she no-showed. Jackson was also released from the station. He was given a court date for April 25. And, like Barrett, records show he didn’t show up, either.
Judge Donald Panarese, Jr. signed failure to appear warrants for both of them.
So now, more scarce taxpayer money has to be spent on either tracking them down or waiting for a random traffic stop (increasingly unlikely) to get them back in front of a judge, along with processing, a baloney sandwich or two, transport to court, etc.
Most of which could have been avoided with a $100 bail these two probably would have shown up for, even if court costs took half of it.

Hey Bud. I see this all the time when im not faking a sickness or pretending to die and actually show up to work.
When they are found, arrested, processed, housed, fed, and transported, the charges will be dropped.
Politicians are messing over the average Joe taxpayers.
Piggybacking off your thread about how fun this job used to be, we would routinely tell arrestees we caught with a few bags of dope that they didn’t need to go to court “because the judge always throws out XX bags of less”. Worked like a charm 90% of the time. BFW issued = Dude rearrested = Another court date scheduled = 3 (or more) OT hours banked. None of that SAFE-T Act in the 90s. Fuck you, pay me. And pay me twice for stupid, gullible people who thought “the poleese too stupid to be slick” 😂😂
The hell of it is, even if these clown sticks do get caught, they will go before a judge on the FTA warrants and promptly get ROR’d AGAIN.

No penalties just getting worse. The warm weather is finally approaching. Don’t know what this city state county is gonna look like like after this killing season. All we can do is self preservation, protect your neighborhoods protect where you live the animals they will roam and do what they do. I’m sure you all have seen what happened in the northern suburbs where the wealthy couple were robbed by the animals from Chicago so they are expanding their horizons. They know it’s easy pickings out there plenty of money plenty of people plenty of liberals that put in the Democrats let them feast.
I'm surprised they just didn't SOL the case. It's not like they would have done anything to either one of them if they would have showed up.

Your cash, even small amounts, works wonders! Compare a parking lot of an Aldi store with any other store that uses shopping carts. For $0.25 people will bring their cart back to the store...not so much elsewhere.
Is anyone really " tracking down arrest warrants " I seriously doubt it. I know people who have had an arrest warrant out for them for years, they have not moved and so far no service of warrant. Years ago the districts used to have " warrant men" who would do that job every day. Now? No one and the sheriff certainly does not do this. I would bet there are thousands or tens of thousands of outstanding warrants in Cook County. Only a traffic stop or an arrest for something else will see the warrant served.

Rule 14 ?? Hahaha yea ok. They’re given their court date and instructions to show up or a warrant will be issued along with a bond slip at bond court. Tell me you’re brand new or never made an arrest without telling me.
