OT⊠again Iâm hearing +/- 500 people dropped papers for June. If so, that would be an unprecedented exodus. All those hires from â91 - â95 are hitting their 55 and/or 29 and-a-day. You thought crazy amounts of mandatory overtime was a thing of the past? No fucking way, not even if itâs only half that number. Can anyone confirm? What say you, HR blog fans?

I've dealt with Edwards since she's been the Tact Lt. In 007. I've had no problems with her. She's been nice and professional. She wants to work and her officers are engaged. I have no complaints. I'm not saying that the other comments are incorrect. The department is what it is.

Scandal? If by doing lawful traffic stops is illegal and scandalous then there has to be another profession you could get into. There is a reason why the attorneys went to the press for this exactly at the same time the traffic stop policy is getting finalized. The only thing scandalous are the attorneys who pushed these suits.
So 1 Hein drinking buddy, 1 Talley BFF and 1 who is getting rewarded for holding one of the slowest districts in the city when the commander abruptly retired and another with 4-5 bad lawsuits coming down the pipeline that will embarrass the city again. Smart choices once again for this department. The âleadership teamâ Snelling has put together is setting this department up for failure.
018 allows a tac officer who is stripped to perform admin duties for tac. Never shows up to work and is out partying on the clock while we work full tours. How is this allowed.

Al P. has had nothing but great spots. Not much of a worker. Definitely had a lot of clout going way back to Melissa Stratton who got him into the D-unit as Sgt. when he had no clue of what he was doing, having never been a detective. Al's dong has also been on quite the cpd circuit, including tapping one of the detectives who worked for him while he was married, bragging in revealed text messages (after the beef came out) how Deenihan was his guy and would take care if them. Al "Costanza" was so good, that she went full lesbian right after. Nothing but the best and brightest for cpd.

Generational "wealth" and the usual trajectory of the connected few who are plugged enough to make it to the rank of Captain. Usually starts out like this:
Promotion to the rank of Sergeant usually with very little tenure, followed by an almost immediate assignment to a unit at HQ.
Few years of supervising a ghost unit at HQ and a promotion to the rank of Lieutenant. Followed by an assignment to district of choice, or somewhere up north.
Next, comes a promotion to Captain, followed by an assignment to district close to home or unit.
Promotion to Commander.... etc etc etc.
List their unit history of assignment/detail. Not the phony awards.
Why shouldnât they spell it that way, they have been told that everything they do is correct and that white privilege is the root of all of their problems. Congraluations mfâers you win.

Why is everyone so caught up on merit? It exists and is out in the open and only accounts up to 30%. No one knows what the definition of merit is with the Chicago Police Department, but they have a process. The real problem is all the connected people who are given the test ahead of time and make it off rank score. God only knows what that percentage is.
Patronage at its finest. But, when you talk to one of these merit people they will all tell you they deserve it. I once saw a photo of a group of women who made merit lieutenant. The photo was of their study group, none of them made it off of the list. Pathetic and damaging to moral.

The department should stop with giving people multiple merits promotionsâŠ.. You should only get 1 bite at the apple. At some point you need to pass a promotion exam in order to be a top leader in the department.
Yea, maybe we do. She is as noce as they come, for sure. Deserving of 3 merit promotions? Never.
If that happened, our Command staff would not be who they are. Iâll make an educated guess and say about 70% of command and exempts are two to three merit bumps (two only because I allowed for downright cheating at least once).
Iâd guess about 70% of exempts are a combo of multiple merit and cheating.

We know 30 percent of promotions are merit. What percentage of exempt command staff had merit promotions before getting the gold star? What percentage of gold stars passed every promotional exam before the gold star?
are you new on the job we all know its around 98% never passed one test its all nepotism, favoritism (who you fuck or drink with) and political connections!

All these exempts would still be in blue shirts being dogs if it wasnât for merit. Thatâs why we need to push to get rid of it. Need to start FOIA requesting these merit nominations rank scores on the test as well, push it to reporter William kelly and other outlets so this can get covered. Remember when they would publish the ranked score next to the merit on the list? Why did they get rid of that? Let them be embarrassed. Others spend thousands and countless hours of time to prepare and study. Most miss it by a few 100 outâŠ. If merit wasnât in place those ppl would make it. Merit is the main recipe for disaster in this department.

What are you smoking, the only ones that benefit from the drop program are those who hit their 29 years but are not 55 years old. Anyone staying outside of this is a fool!!! If you are maxed out on your pension and are 55 years old or older, why wouldnât you retire and get another job that doesnât cancel your days off, an employer that doesnât treat you like shit, etc. You would literally be getting paid 2 paychecks while only working 1 job. Some people on this job are really soft!!

They will likely tell you to get back out on the street. Then before you go, ask what you have to do to achieve merit status and get promoted?
