Careening Toward the Cliff
The psychos at the CTU won reelection:
- Members of the Chicago Teachers Union reelected Stacy Davis Gates and her team Friday, continuing the 15-year-run of the leadership group credited with installing the city’s current mayor and for support of beyond-the-classroom social justice issues.
Never mind that kids can't read or do math or be equipped with the most basic skills to survive in an increasingly automated and technical society.
The CTU wants to insert itself "beyond-the classroom" because they've failed at the most basic tenet of their jobs.
And more than any other union, they're the ones driving everyone into the ditch, over the cliff, ramming the iceberg.

They are running right with CFD. I think CFD might have to rethink that in 14 years when they have their next negotiation. How CFD has a 700 million budget and CTU is near $11 BILLION, is mind boggling.
Rumor has it she's running for Mayor next...
the students are being brainwashed by being given diplomas they can't read by the teachers telling them they will still be able to get a city job as long as they keep voting democRATic
And so many CPD officers are married to these very same out of control CTU harridans! Morals be damned! That public money just too good!
Do not send your kid to ANY CPS/CTU “school”. The “scores” are bullshit and there is no way to overcome the taint of four years of cultural, moral and political contact with CTU. They are damaged. Don’t bullshit yourself.
“Never mind that kids can't read or do math or be equipped with the most basic skills to survive in an increasingly automated and technical society.”
No worries, that’s what “entitlements” are for, SCC. Gotta keep the generational ignorance pacified on that Democratic Plantation.
They're all economic illiterates, just like the "fuck you, pay me" idiot on here.
well said
A school district where 30% of schools are at 50% capacity or less is should be financially unsustainable. Rahm tried addressing this and the CTU cries "RACIST" to this day. It's an effective strategy that's terrified all mayors since. At some point soon over half the schools will be at 50% capacity or less yet none will ever be closed and/or consolidated. 56% of you county tax bill is earmarked for education. That % will only increase over time and those taxes raised accordingly. They won. Forget the grandkids. The only way to break even is to leave Chicago as soon as you can with as much as you can.
What you view as failure. The Communist Teachers Union view as success.
A goal of the Communist Teachers Union is to indoctrinate Marxist ideology through repetitive emotional propaganda in the classroom.
Their function is NOT educating in math, reading, science. In fact they want their “students” to be deficient in those subjects.
Once you accept that premise, then you’ll understand they are succeeding beyond their wildest imaginations.
So glad I decided on Catholic school for my kids !
I don’t entirely blame the teachers. It’s like trying to teach feral cats.
fire them all, make them actually interview for a teaching job.
It makes sense why all my Chinese neighbors send their kids to after school learning programs. To learn what they should have learned in CPS schools.
Same here. Not even Catholic and we sent our kids. The Catholic schools aren’t perfect and have drawbacks but they’re not poisonous to the soul like CPS.
`Kids are graduating and they can't even read or write. As long as that is acceptable nothing will ever change at CTU. I predict that in less than a year they will ask for more money and conehead will give it to them. More money for dumber kids...enjoy your property tax raise Chicago...its time to defund CTU and CPS
Fuck you...Pay me...
True dat but my sugar momma is not in the ctu she got out years ago.
now that the insane are still in control of the asylum watch how the graduation rates will hit all-time highs even though those graduating can't read or write
Democrats like to keep their future voters stupid.
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
Judge ordered CTU to release four years of financial audits.
That coupled with upcoming PPP fraud indictments of some CTU allies should damage what power CTU still has.
Great choice, good job.
It might be harder to hide living in Indiana but not impossible
I’m not even sure how they can sustain the “racist” argument when I’d argue that being a white student in CPS you are in the minority, but they manage to pull it off every time. I cannot wait to move.
Honestly, I feel like all you working class people who send your kids to Catholic school are part of the problem. You’re literally paying taxes for a school system your kids don’t use and you have no voice in how things are run. Can you imagine if the CPS school system was flooded with parents who actually gave a shit? It would look a lot different than it does, but no you all cave to fear and well, this is what you have. And your pocket book is lighter. Besides that, how’s that Catholic “socialist” mentality working out for you these days because those pricks are the biggest offenders of supporting all this open borders mentality and then you the tax payer get to pay for that too.
The Chicago Public Schools are a separate government and taxing body. They do not have enough money for the contract a year from now and could go insolvent.
Near 11 Billion for CTU.......... fiddlle sticks! Consider if you will, the Federal Goverment after loosing the Election to Trump, announced on or about Jan 25th that the U.S.Dept Of Transportation had awarded 5.7 BILLION dollars to Chicago to extend the C.T.A. Redline to carry 38,000 more potential riders. IF you bought each of these potential riders a brand new Tesla Model 3 to drive to work, it would only cost one billion, 330million dollars. Then the Politicians from The State Of Illinois, The County Of Cook and The City of Chicago could steal the remaining money. And yes, I've had way too much Caffine.
Instead of hiring social justice advocates, CPS should hire speech therapists so the yutes can learn to speak standard English. Also include the baby mommas and baby daddies.
“He have he books” is raggedy. Not a candidate for the ACT or the SAT tests.
the time where CPS is a full and complete refusal to cooperate with CPD is not far off.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste...and CTU sure has made a business out of wasting minds and souls. No one should be graduating who cant demonstrate an ability to read and write. I'm weary of the excuses. This is unacceptable and every time I meet a teacher, I mention it. I always get the same tired excuses. The ugly truth is...None of them care enough to start a revolution and teach them English and grammar. This is a generations old problem. It will take a lot of political will and generations to fix.
This is true. CTU - the Chicago Teachers Union runs/ruins the city, it's all about racial power, resentment and control (elected school boards, under elections that would make Joseph Stalin blush) of the $8 billion and growing CPS Chicago Public Schools annual budget.
I'm' seeing CTU sponsored adverts on my FB social media account showing a smiling young A American man with dreadlocks dressed in (clean) T shirt and jeans promising a $70,000 a year job (for 9 months a year) CTU job after just one year of some apprenticeship.
That's just the way it is and it's very bad, going down like CPS did in the mid 1980s when Secretary of Education pronounced Chicago Public Schools "The worst in the Nation".
And folks, IMO there is now way we're going to politely talk our way out of this with free market research studies showing CPS to be very expensive per student and have poor test results.
The CTU, CPS with their enablers in the media, Leftist, BLM woke political elites that have dined and dash from Chicago (Oprah, the Obamas) want and have got the $ and the power. We'll need a strong man or better yet a strong woman such as Margarett Thatcher to set things right - and IMO this will entail yes breaking the CTU the same way Margarett Thatcher broke the United Mine Workers Union of Arthur Scargill that had been removing UK Conservative, Torrie Party governments.

We are far outnumbered dummy. It wouldn’t make a difference. You sound like a childless cat lady anyway.

Ohhh f u c k off, Mr Anti-Catholic aka Mr I want to save the CPS! You must be a in bed w/ a CTU member. Don't tell me how to spend my money! GFY and the horse you rode in on.
PS - there's a hot seat in Hell for you.
Where did you hear about this? Curious. I’d like to see those myself.
In the Catholic school system we have a say in the curriculum. Whereas in CPS curriculum is what it is. We can’t have a say at all. That’s a problem when the people who control the curriculum are thinking on a waaay different spectrum than we do.
Catholic school education is far superior to the Chicago Public schools. It is worth the money. We are not part of the problem. No amount of money will fix the CPS and the political patronage system that runs it. You pointed out the main problem, the school system is flooded with parents who do not " give a shit" and are absent parents. If my child graduated high school, the system gave them a diploma and they could barely read, write or add, I would be really upsent. This does not seem to be the general case in the public school system. I taught at the university level for 10 years and had many public school graduates in my classes. Their knowledge and skills were well below the norm and they struggled to keep up. Just look at the product Chicago State University turns out and you know what I mean.
But did they release them. I don’t think so
