Shooting Footage

Earlier this year, an Officer was wounded in the leg following a struggle with an armed suspect. We wouldn't usually post video of this sort except for one very important part:

The application of the tourniquet to the wounded Officer's leg was very well done, almost flawless, and that's difficult to do in a dynamic situation like that.

Hats off to the Officers involved.

I knew nothing of LEMERT, we waited for bambulance.
Good thing cops are better trained.
Plus we have a lot of combat vets, those guys are great.
Good luck kids.

YouTube video has great comments on this and how the long nailed, pony tailed female runs away after the shot is fired and doesn't know how to work her radio..Other than her, it was an excellent tourniquet applied in record time.

You can see how crazy a situation gets after a shooting - please don’t ever forget to secure the bad guy !!!! Other than that , these POs did good.
You’re taught by your own actions - it’s called experience . Good job to all involved, and hope that injured PO is recovering .

25 years ago as a young officer Sgt. Gombliki (might have the spelling wrong) said during roll call that if officers get hurt or killed by another man is our fault. For years I did not understand what he meant, I thought his comment was wrong. That the only way it was not your fault is if a sniper or a bomb cause the harm/death. Now retired, I now understand what he meant and he is 100%. This video is exactly what I experienced multiple times working in 4 and 10 and never got hurt, well, except for the bad guy. Officers need better training which will never get due to the lack of experience.

Hey, at least that chick was yelling the loudest to move, so she could appear to be apart of the action, at the end of video when all the scary stuff was done

Yea isn’t it? But us two dorks can’t find anything better to do than read the blog and then simply point out that we were born earlier than some, so we could be retired at this moment in time

I appreciate how the shooter/offender was cuffed and left there to bleed while the injured officer received emergency medical attention. Looks like at least one of his coworkers knew something about emergency first aid.
I hope the officer recovers fully. Good work...

Outstanding job by all! Lemart training is one of the best training the department offers. Bodycam shows the gang bangers family/friends were all lying. Too bad our local media doesn't point out the video corroboration of the official statement.

I was once told this is what you call a “Spotlight Ranger.” In other words, does nothing, useless, runs away from an crisis until the coast is clear and the spotlight comes out- then starts running around and looking busy. I might not have it 100% correct, but hope I’m close.

What do you mean “was”?
Has anything changed? Did she all of a sudden learn how to be the police? Grow some intestinal fortitude?

Probably not.
So she is ALWAYS going to be useless. A sad but true truth on this job.
Another unfortunate fact is: There’s male officers that are just as useless.

Dear oh holy God and Jesus our savior who has sent the angel st Michael who is the police chief in heaven. Watch over these officers every day as they patrol the streets of Hell. For one day they will be employed by st Michael the police chief of heaven. They will one day report for duty and will see all the past friends in heavens roll call where we can all police the streets of heaven together. Oh st Michael watch over the hero’s in blue as we are all blue blooded angels trapped on earth working the beat of hell waiting for that day to report to Chief st Michael. Amen

To 08:16:07, and you must be quite miserable on the job. If not miserable yourself, then miserable to work with.

Someday if you make it that far, you will be retired and I hope you will be able to say that retirement is great too. Don't begrudge someone who got there and is happy about it.

This one happened approximately two months after St. George of Fentanyl died of drug overdose, criminal resistance and victim posturing. I imagine the officers could have had that incident in their minds when the offender said he couldn't breathe and he had skin graphs and needed to be cuffed in front. I believe that because of that Minnesota incident, an officer here almost lost his life. Never forego your safety or your partner's safety because of sh*theads like this. I do hope the involved officers recovered well.

Stop blocking the streets and alley with your squad car. First thing you should learn as a PPO if the ambulance cannot drive to you it’s wasting valuable time. The scene from 018 last week the whole city block was jammed. It might be the offender first but if officer needs assistance, fire needs to get there. Leave room for ambo.

I have decided that it is time to talk to the media. Off camera of course. Give them the real story and hope they print it. They are used to being snubbed by the department and given the "no comment" routine. Make sure the cameras are off and be respectful. But tell them the truth. If none of us do, they will interview some nitwit on the street who hates the police. If I talk, and the story is still against CPD, I am done talking to that reporter.
CPD needs to revisit their relationship with the media. Decades of telling everyone to talk with news affairs got us where we are today. If someone sees me talking to a reporter, I tell them that I was telling them to talk to news affairs...I still dont trust them.
