Trial Continues
We're told Room 700, one of the largest in the building:
More than two years after a Chicago police officer was fatally shot while responding to a domestic incident in Gage Park, the trial of his alleged killer began Tuesday with prosecutors introducing jurors to two men who they say lived two very different lives.
Chicago police Officer Andres Vasquez Lasso made choices to be proud of, Assistant State’s Attorney Katie Siefert told jurors Tuesday morning.
“He made a choice to put on that uniform,” Siefert said. “He made a choice to serve his community, he made a choice to answer his calling to serve and protect, and he was killed in the line of duty doing just that.”
On the other hand, Steven Montano, the 21-year-old charged with killing Lasso, made a series of “despicable choices,” she said.
“He made a choice to run onto a playground with that loaded handgun, and he made a choice to point a loaded handgun at a uniformed Chicago police officer,” Seifert said. “When he was done making those choices, he made five more,” Seifert added, referring to the five shots Montano allegedly fired at Vasquez Lasso.
It was reported to be a very crowded courtroom to support the family through this trying time. The trial is expected to last all week at a minimum.

R.I.P.
will offender have a fake rev-run to give a speech about how he used to be a good boy then started hanging with the wrong crowd after his daddy went to prison?
....I have a good stout rope I can bring......
I'm glad to hear about the support.
Many keeses for them.
Another, irrefutable argument for capital punishment.
If you are in the area, in the building or you are not working please go to the court room. It will not bring the officer back, but it will help those that were close to him. It will strengthen the bond that runs in the Thin Blue Line. Those of you will feel the Brotherhood spirit run through you. He was part of you. We all lose a little every time one of us is killed. Show this Fuckhead and his family that we are together. Pray for the Judge or jury to the right thing.
Waiting for the introduction of the High School Graduation Portrait
Rest in peace, our brother
You will never be forgotten
That’s the type of ASA’s Cook County needs. She needs to run for office!
Hope he ROTS in his prison cell.
St Michael, Dear Lord, All the Angels & Saints, please intervene, we
desperately are in need
Is it more difficult for old folks who once knew civility or for the young
who have never known it.
Good points.
We used to put cop killers in the Electric Chair. One treatment, they never hurt another human being!
Every officer should attend the murder trial of a police officer once in their career. It will open your eyes to what can happen on this job. Sadly, over the past 27 years, there have been way too many of these trials.
He will be a hero in the prison system.
Rather, I hope he does a Lovelle Jordan.
