You want to see what a drain the "Consent Decree" actually is? If you go to the Independent Monitoring Team website, you can download six years worth of monthly statements and hunt through their expense paperwork. The summary page (page 1) is obscene:
- Jan 2024 - $476,312.23
- Feb 2024 - $360,892.82
- Mar 2024 - $466,239.62
- Apr 2024 - $446,884.71
- May 2024 - $502,926.51
- Jun 2024 - $412,025.14
That's for only half of last year (the last year available) and there are names and hourly breakdowns how they're charging the city. There are tens of dozens of entries that cover "review" and "meeting preparation" and all manner of bureaucratic nonsense.
How efficient are they? Well, what's the Department "compliance" rate currently at? Under 20%? Meaning this is going to go on for another two or three decades enriching Maggie Hickey and how many connected lawyers with untold millions.

Why kill the cash cow? They will continue to find something wrong in us, not in compliant until the money runs out. Once the money runs out, then things will magically be fixed.
The superintendent is so proud of the 20% compliance rate.
This “consent decree” which the city “leaders” voluntarily imposed upon itself has to be one of the best scams these lawyers ever dreamed up. They bill the city of chicago tax payers $500k a month for doing what exactly? We need a lot more transparency regarding how tax payer money is spent!

That's a drop in the bucket compared to what Michael Shakman's firm charged the City and the County for his 40+ years of litigation. That gravy train cost the taxpayers upwards of $250 million in legal fees for Shackman and his court appointed monitors. Some of the monitors were billing at the rate of millions of dollars per year. Shakman even bought himself an airplane with our money!
I’ve been telling people for a while now that Maggie Hickey is the real “clout” of the City. Who else would be selected to bill millions of dollars for overseeing a fictitious decree?

Its the money. The law industry is all about the Benjamins. What has the dissent decree accomplished to improve the quality of life for the victimized living in fear working class of the city? Zero. Zilch. The fat cat greedy legal subject matter expert scammers financially rape good people by misappropriating working class tax money resources accomplishing nothing one could argue. The money would be best used to fund actual police patrol professionals rather than funding costly published academic lawyer nonsense. Public monies for overtime police patrols in certain zip codes in those at risk neighborhoods of color is an investment in the communities not some progressive mandated court appointed shyster money-making legal cabal funded by the public.
Misappropriating public money for personal financial gains is prima facie evidence of established Consent Decree racism especially when communities of color are denied extra beat cars or paroled violence interrupters patrolling providing essential social justice services in these crime plagued areas putting a dent in crime. Shame on the Consent Decree deplorables and their minions.
Consent Decree monitors should do their critical work Pro Bono Publico for the good of the people putting excessive compensation aside. Adopt the model for dedicated public service like a typical volunteer non-profit . And not that democrat advanced not for profit Non Government Organization (NGO) model costing billions to grant safe passage to illegal immigrants.

Part of the consent decree calls for counselors to be assigned to units for mental wellness. Nice concept, but after reading the other post about the police hating civilian, I would be very hesitant to trust whoever they hired.

How much does CPD pay the private law firms that “help” them try to “push back” against the monitors insane requests? One of the private lawyers used to work for the monitors side! Can we say conflict? I guess doesn’t matter what side you represent cause the money is always greener on either side!
Wouldn’t it be nice if people actually cared about doing the right thing. Half these folks don’t even live in Chicago so how can they give any input on our policies SMh!!
