Another ShotSpotter Miss
Haven't covered one of these in a while:
A man was found fatally shot on a Near West Side street this week—the latest gunshot victim to go unnoticed until it was too late in a neighborhood that could once rely on ShotSpotter to detect gunfire.
Officers responded to a call of an unresponsive person in the 2600 block of West Wilcox around 9:13 p.m., according to a Chicago police statement. They found a 44-year-old man on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head. Paramedics took the man to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No one reported hearing gunfire in the area; however, officers at the scene reportedly found 12 shell casings near the man’s body, raising questions about how quickly first responders could have located the victim if the city’s ShotSpotter technology had still been active.
What's the latest from City Hall about re-instating or re-bidding the ShotSpotter-type contract so that Conehead-connected people get their beaks wet?

No connected to these progs tech company has the competence, let alone the integrity, to do anything other than fleece the taxpayers.
A more potentially possible effort would be for the original shot spotter company to form a co-operative network of privately funded services and display real time alerts via a website dedicated to this, plus automatically informing 911.
Maybe with a distinctive Robo Cop voice.
Ending with, "Thank You For Your Focused Attention".

The only problem with defunding Shotspotter is that the funding most likely went to something useless or corrupt.

If the city wants to use its police department properly, it would get everything that makes the department proficient, like a private company does. But that is not what the city wants, obviously. Not backing the department, not hiring and promoting the best available and junking this bullshit merit system renews their mission. Just like the school system and the city services. Electing competent mayor and city council members and the state government officials is the job of the citizens. Of course, the "Machine" has stymied that system. Sadly, you are left with this circus (circuses are fun, this is not) For all the reasons stated here day after day and the fact this will never change in your lifetime, there are 2 choices. Get your parachute out and see what options there are for you and your family to survive. There are places to go for a better job. Maybe not as much pay, but there is a cost for freedom and the possibility that you can have a pension without the risk of these Shitheads trying to take it from you.
If you want to waste most of your adult life in this shithole with the "ya, but" people stop bitching because it will not get better. Pay more in taxes, kids getting a shit education or paying all that O.T. money and higher salary for their education and still live in the shithole. This is not dress rehearsal, it is real life and real time. You will regret waking up some day with a few weeks to go and wonder why you didn't get out earlier.
For me, it was being full of the bullshit, and I saved several years of my life (even in the good old days). Real science will tell you the earlier in life you get rid of the stress the longer you will live. 30 years and still rolling down the highway of life. (Not bragging, just followed those words).
