Pointing Incidents Up
And Larritorious promises he'll address it:
The Chicago Police Department continues to make slow progress toward reforming its training, policies, and practices, but there are two distinct areas where it is lagging behind court-ordered reforms.
The team charged with overseeing the 2019 federal consent decree — ordered in response to the police killing of Laquan McDonald — held a status hearing Tuesday.
They expressed concern about the rising number of use-of-force incidents, including so-called “firearm pointing incidents,” involving police department personnel since 2022. The team also raised concerns that the department’s crisis intervention program is understaffed, making it difficult for Chicago police districts to respond to calls involving people experiencing mental health emergencies.
First, addressing the "understaffing" of the crisis intervention program.
- Um, dumbasses? The ENTIRE FREAKING DEPARTMENT is understaffed. Down from 13,500 in the 1990's to under 10,000 today, with well over another 1,000 spots unfilled.
- And with more people than ever on some form of treatment for "mental illnesses," society as a whole is unprepared and "understaffed" as far as dealing with these incidents.
Now onto the "pointing incidents." Let's see if we can save everybody some time, effort and money by saying what Larritorious isn't allowed to say - but have you idiots been paying attention the past six or so years?
- BLM nonsense,
- antifa jagoffs,
- statue protests,
- anti-Trump rallies,
- attacks on ICE....
- combined with "defunding" police movements,
- a Soros-funded DEI states attorney not prosecuting crime and downgrading everything else,
- Fata$$'s so-called "SAFE-T" act,
- a liberal parole policy for multiple-convicted repeat offenders,
- million dollar paydays for criminals via perjured testimony,
- a crooked media that lies and buys "testimony" from felons
- no chasing - foot and vehicle
- a ridiculously restrictive Use of (no) Force policy
We could go on and on, but all the above has fostered a culture on NON-compliance with Lawful and Legal police orders. And in the face of continuing and escalating NON-compliance, what is the one tool that tops the list for enforcing compliance?
- a f#$%ing gun
Is a gun the correct tool for each and every situation? No, of course not.
But when you lower the hiring standards, provide crap training, spend more time teaching new officers what tools they aren't allowed to use, then threaten to fire them AND put them in prison for the tiniest infraction that runs afoul of the "progressive" agenda, why would anyone be surprised that pointing incidents would rise?

Pointing incidents up?
This isn't about criminals' incidents of pointing firearms at, well, just about anyone?
Well, sheesh, ya coulda fooled me, what with my increased chalking taskings.
Chalkie
So what happened with the accidental shooting at the 6th District tonight?
“ Quit reaching , quit reaching , quit fucking reaching , dude you’re going to get fucking shot “ - Officer Enrique Martinez EOW 11-4-24 .
Remembers whose blood his death is on . The exact people wanting to restrict officers when to pull out weapons .
Past history tells us that Democrats never solve a problem. Don't expect even one of those listed issues to be solved by these imbeciles.
Hey Superintendent pushups ; remember your alligator tears at officer Martinez funeral last year and your fake speech like your some general . He was shot and killed because people like you not wanting officers to have guns out when they should . Enrique Martinez 006 , EOW 11-4-24 Never Forget
Nothing is due to incompetence or illiterate leaders. It’s all be design. Can’t happen over night takes at least two generations to implement the new world. The new era.
Well said!
It sounds like the top pointing officers are being looked at. So much for aggressive policing. Don’t let some idiot boss get you jammed up. Don’t do anything you’re not comfortable with!
The whole "pointing" thing is just another measure they will try to use to eventually disarm police officers. It may take 10-15 years for them to get there but they are laying in wait for their moment. If they can't find a real life example to misrepresent and exploit - the liberals will manufacture one - somehow, someway.
I’ve found that not long after the ISR and Stop Receipt came along, followed by the self-imposed “Consent Decree”, that my street stops came almost to a dead halt. Guess what? My pointing incidents followed suit.
"Is a gun the correct tool for each and every situation? No, of course not."
It's be to have it out and ready, than worry about the optics. Think about your own safety first, and that you want to be able to go home when your shift ends.
I’m done with these days off cancelled and 12 hour deployment. Aimlessly standing around for 12 hours on some street corner while HQ and district dollies work the desk inside. No more. Last year was the final straw. Never again.
My mother told me to never point at anyone....
Case Closed.
Each pointing incident is a potential shooting. Some see the glass half empty, I see it half full. Kudos to our officers for showing restraint in NOT shooting when there is a pointing incident. Like you stated, let’s address the need to even having to point. Criminals are emboldened nowadays
I’m going to suggest that if there’s too many pointing incidents a great way to lower this stat is to slowly and I mean like a turtle respond to in progress calls for service. Slowly respond to people with guns. Slowly respond to the battery in progress. Slowly respond to the domestic call. Let the offenders get away that way the police won’t feel threatened and be forced to point their guns at criminals. Problem solved right here. Let’s give it a try for a few days and see if it works. If it worked for Jon Hein why wouldn’t it work for the regular copper???
Nice training CPD, Supposedly a new recruit shot his nuts off in the 006th district parking lot last night.
Another officer said it best on FB -
Hesitation Kills.
A Firearm can be put back in it's holster; a life cannot be put back on this Earth.
The only potential concern we should address is the creation of additional psychological barriers regarding the decision to draw your firearm.
There's no notification needed for the low ready.
Well, well...
As predicted, the data from the department's stupid firearm pointing incident policy is being used by "independent monitor" aka commie university such as Northwestern University, to portray officers as reckless and racist for pointing their firearms at active resisters and assailants.
No mention of the rise on assaults / battery on LE, increased number of LODD, the lawlessness in inner cities, soft on crime policies, anti police sentiments, and race hustling politicians during the BLM riots up to this day.
What's next? CPD will require star numbers for firearm pointing incidents, so that they can identify and hang the officers with the most number.
Speaking of understaffed SCC please tell me why the department is now providing daily security at the board of elections now through april
I would like to know the stats for resisting arrest, refusing lawful orders, in what communities, race and ethnicity? They won’t report on that.
There was a 'pointing incident' in a deli in Edison Park last weekend. Larry didn't seem to have much to say about that!
Ouch!!
I guess if you draw you had better shoot the punk.
Yeouch!
I will not hesitate not for a second to pull my gun when the ole Spidey sense kicks in, its there for a reason. Fuck you Brandon Beat Off and Loser Larrtotios
Uhh, I have been doing that since Lightfeets was here. Do not be in any hurry to go to any crime in this shitty city where all the assholes will be pointing the cell camera on you and not shithead.
Exactly
If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen!
These cameras allow scrutinization of everything that officers do by all kinds of people who are not the police and don't understand use of force policies.
Well said
The old timers use to say kid you made your first mistake by having your gun in your and not in your hand
Having guns out by police saves lives ever. How many offenders didn’t draw their weapon because an officer already had his drawn?
Same
Yes Exactly!!!
Good comment,I agree!!!
Is this what got Ella French murdered!!!
Reminds me of my first day in the academy 34 years ago when the instructor asked the group..... "How many lives do you have to give for your city? NONE"
He had his weapon out and pointed right at the offender. Unfortunately, Action beats reaction 100% of the time.
god bless ella french
also read the several young female officers lateraled to several great suburbs
bless of luck / stay safe
juicay smollay said he will be calling for the police in hopes they point their big guns at him :)
So, you stopped popping boners?
Does it every election. It’s a county building with security. It doesn’t make any sense
A M E N. Put this comment on a billboard.
What activities are occuring at the location you are defining as your subject of inquiry?
That’s not a training issue. You just can’t fix stupid.
Yep. They want to get rid of anyone who has actual survival skills on this job. They want hesitation and you to take a fall rather than the city have any chance of getting sued by some asshole who may get shot by police because of their own actions. No one believes me when I say this, but I’ve had real life liberals tell me it’s a police officer’s duty to get shot. This is how warped the thinking is. Police should be required to get shot over shooting someone else. That is their honest to goodness logic.
A lot of younger officers don’t have their guns out on person with a gun call, shots fired, person with a knife and etc. Sadly officers have been killed due to our restrictive policies, hesitation and no support.
I will do whatever I have to do so that I make it home alive to my family. It’s a shame what has happened to policing in Chicago. 5-6 more years for me than I will more than likely be moving to the great state of Florida. I will have less than 20 years but so be it. I will hopefully get hired in Florida and work on a second pension. I would leave today if I could, but financially I can’t. The superintendent should have spoken up for us, when asked about the rise in pointing incidents. The far left only wants us to use force after force is used against us and if they ever have it there way in this country that will be the new use of force for the whole country. Action beats reaction all day.
Do what you have to do to make it home alive to your family.
Never.
