Chicago police are asking for help identifying three suspects who appeared to be in exceptionally good spirits after allegedly robbing a woman at knifepoint aboard a Red Line train downtown.
CPD released surveillance images on Tuesday showing the three women smiling broadly as they waltzed along the State-Chicago Red Line platform shortly after the robbery on Monday afternoon.
Police said the 26-year-old victim was riding the train when the three women confronted her and took her valuables while displaying a knife around 3:27 p.m.
CPD described the suspects as three Black women. One was wearing a black jacket, pink pants, and white gym shoes. Another was wearing a pink jacket, black pants, and white and gray gym shoes. The third had a nose ring and was wearing a black jacket and light blue jeans.
Can you guess why they were all smiling and laughing?
- Because they know there are ZERO consequences for robbing and threatening victims with a knife, even on the off chance they're caught and arrested
You know what will stop it....and wipe the smiles off their faces?
- A CCL carrier ignoring the "no gun" signs the way criminals do, or an off duty cop, or even a retired cop (though we have no idea why a retiree would be riding the CTA) shooting and killing one of more
This was at 3:27 in the afternoon. Keep your fingers crossed.

According to Johnson and Pritzker crime is a terrible thing to waste.
No one wants to get involved because they came forward many of times to disrupting their lives and it leading to not much happening. I have heard other police officers telling their family members to not get involved. So it’s just the way it is.
I don’t expect anything to change. Traveling on CTA is to expect to witness crime or be a victim of crime. That is my prospective with police in Chicago. I don’t think the department is committed to really solving crime.
CTA is crime ridden. Can you imagine having to send your 15 year old child on the CTA.

I took the wife and her sisters down to Christkindle market at Daley plaza. And watched all the Animals on the CTA platforms. How the thugs hung around the market and the corners across from the market. But what was great was walking back to blue line and seeing how each station had the groups of three to five just standing on platforms not taking any trains. But they were all eyeballing the riders looking for single rider to intimidate!
Remember when the trains had a conductor. Remember when there were consequences for illegal actions? Remember when Old Mayor Daley said shoot to kill looters?
Instead let’s not Demonize these yutes! Let’s give them money not to cause criminal activity? They don’t want jobs they just want money……

I was recently on a train traveling from Milan to Bellinzona in Switzerland earlier this summer on business. As the train went north, still in Italy, I was in business class at the front of the train when two Algerian or Moroccan "yutes" and one young white chick (she look like she was half high or drunk) about 18 attempted to enter the business class car from the regular coaches. They pushed past the female conductor and sat down even though they did not have tickets and started to play a boom box and smoke cigarettes.
The train continued into Switzerland and we were about 15-20 minutes across the border, when the train slowed and stopped as it was traveling adjacent to a major two lane highway that goes between Italy and Switzerland.
As the train stopped, I saw out the right side window on the highway, six Swiss police cars. Eight Swiss cops then jumped over the guardrail, entered the vestibule and entered our car. They were all over six feet tall, and each carried an H&K MP submachine gun across their vest and it looked like each had two H&K or Glock pistols in waist holsters. All of their faces and heads were covered and they pulled the three people out of their seats, forced them to the floor of the train car and zip tied their hands and feet. They then carried each of them off and over the guard rail and put them in a police van standing in the middle of the road. It was over in 10 minutes and then the train began to move. Everyone in our car was dead silent.
I was seated on the right side of the train car, next to the road, and as the train started to move, just a little north of where the Swiss police cars parked and blocked the road, there was a dirt farm road going east into the mountains and on that dirt road was parket a cammo green Mercedes Benz Sprinter Van. Standing outside of that van were three Swiss Army soldiers and I could clearly see that one of them was carrying a Barrett Rifle, the other two long guns. All three had the barrels point to the ground.
I don't know if it was terrorist related or not, but Swiss cops don't play games. I was impressed.

70 year old female here. Have to use CTA to get to medical appointments. Try to ride as early in the day as possible, ride in front car, and look as though I will tear the head off anyone approaching. Used to ignore them, but afraid that just reads as passive and easy target.

Years ago I’d ride subway from Roosevelt to grand to attend traffic court . Off duty in uniform to save money 💴 for parking, when you got on train , people behaved , if smoking they would put out cigarette. I wouldn’t ride now if you paid me .

I went to Singapore a number of years ago. Their subways and public transportation is extremely safe day or night. Quality of life crimes are taken seriously. When entering the country on the bottom of the entry visa in big print it said "Drug Traffickers will be Executed" and that was not an idle threat.

CTA is so f-d up they promoted a Lt (from CTA) to Cmdr of 006. Like 006 doesn’t have enough issues under Tate. This Lt’s (AP) watch had the highest crime stats of all watches at mass transit . Maybe it wasn’t his police / supervisory skills (lack thereof) but more his wife’s CTU connections that got him promoted. So much for Snelling’s “I’m not doing things like that, I’m going to be different”.
