Speaking of Predators....
Someone tossed this comment up yesterday in the post about CPS being a mess of sexual assault allegations:

If you copy/paste the link, it automatically downloads the Office of the Inspector General Report. We ran it through a virus scan and all, and it appears to be safe.
What you get is a fifteen page report with all sorts of interesting slides and stats. Like these (click for larger versions):
Simple math shows there are still a few hundred cases unresolved and there are the usual increases and decreases you see over the years.
Interestingly, we did a simple document search for some common terms and guess what words don't appear even once in this fifteen page report?
- the word "police" doesn't appear a single time
- nor does the word "referral"
- nor the words "law enforcement" in any form whatsoever
By their own accounting, TWO THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED THIRTY ONE events since 2018....and not a single referral to police, law enforcement or Cook County investigators.
That would appear to be the REAL scandal.

CPS has the worst of the worst with pedophiles and child molesters! Attacking the kids! Leave the children alone!
What I don't understand is that by law they are mandated reporters to DCFS. If a report is made to DCFS it should generate a SCR# and a Hotline to the police and thus a RD# for an investigation. Last I knew, CPD and corresponding 079 unit wasn't being flooded with these types of cases. Plain and simple, they are handling these internally. Was there some magical unknown agreement between CPS and child welfare to not have to report these properly for a criminal investigation? How is this not criminal negligence if not outright conspiracy to conceal criminal acts on CPS part?
So IL has done away with mandated reporting requirements?

Umm...I believe that all crime, every entity, is not reporting a whole lot of
happenings. It's been going on so long that the entire system put in place
for protections is useless. Add to that that as a whole people are just dumb

All of the money they ask for and get every year goes into the general fund. If it was truly for the children, it would go into an earmarked fund.

I worked in IT back in the 90's in a state regulated industry. We had long lists of rules and regulations, and when that started collecting an overload of data, we were instructed to just ignore everything except the most critical issues. Even then, someone with power would put their thumb on the scale in order to move the needle one way or the other.
all they are supposed to do is report it to ILDCFS. DCFS in turn is supposed to send it down the pipeline in the form of a Hotline which a detective takes over and generates a police report. Seems like a whole lotta steps just don't matter to CPS

From someone in the know, working the criminal side of these allegations: CPS routinely will not file police reports when an allegation is made. Teachers and staff will make the bare minimum notification to DCFS pursuant to legal mandatory reporter requirements. DCFS makes the referral to the appropriate detective division (typically at the Child Advocacy Center). When assigned investigators reach out to CPS staff and witnesses, the result is almost universally the same: CPS staff refuse to provide information on those involved, or will even “invoke” their right to counsel as if they are all suspects. OIG is not much better with sharing information with CPD: anything outside of naming the involved parties requires a search warrant or subpoena.
CPS Code of Silence is real.

The cover up in CPS, their OIG office is ridiculous. Starts with teachers, principals, and network chiefs. There's a whole lot of cover-up of things on the Northside at Portage Park school.
