Someone Found Some Money?
Did Rahm's money tree re-appear?
Transit leaders could vote to create a regional transit police force next January, and new “transit ambassadors” could be monitoring the CTA, Metra and Pace by July of next year. By this November, commuters should have a regional transit app to file complaints and report crimes.
Those are some of the new security measures required in the Northern Illinois Transit Authority Act, signed last month by Gov. JB Pritzker, which will overhaul the metro’s transit system. The Regional Transportation Authority laid out an updated timeline of the measures at its Thursday board meeting.
Nothing changes until the law goes into effect June 1. That’s when the law eliminates the RTA board and replaces it with a NITA board, which will have new powers over policy and fare setting.
So....new uniforms? Who's doing the design? Equipment? Weapons? Promotion exams?
Are they going to staff it with some of Conehead's 150 guard detail?
So many questions.

Fed and state money? Sounds good to me, have mass transit go back to the districts.
Hey Bud, Id sign up for this if i wasnt always layed up at my property down south.
OT At what point is enough enough with this incessant e-learning? It’s almost comical now how often they throw new modules into your que.
Tell the geeks who make those things to calm down, they’re getting way too carried away with the click here, answer to proceed, match the items, etc.
If you want to use your computer graphics degree so bad go to the private sector.
I shall reliably chalk the results of the answers to these so very many questions.
Chalkie
Will they be appearing at train stations in Willmette?
Perharps all the house mice could be dumped over there.
watch all the cheating, merit and noble fraternity grown ass men get it. gals too
Another cesspool for corrupt politicians and their ilk
This smells of what Sparklefarts and his cronies always wanted—their own Brownshirts.A patronage police force…
This is going to be a disaster
So will they carry sidearms? Will they go through a state certified academy? Will they be certified by the state as law enforcement? Most important, Will they eventually be disbanded and fired just like they have done in the past?
But most of all are they just CONDUCTORS, like we use to have on CTA?
So they can punch your transfer, if any of you young studs recall that?
SCC, When you say promotional Exams...You mean MERIT promotions???
Most likely be staffed by the "Peace Keepers" or what ever they call them these days.
hahahahaha,, I can just imagine what the 1st class of new hires will be like,,, all dei,, probably 5 with blue hair, 5 with orange, 5 guys wearing dresses and 5 women wearing beards and mustaches
And of course no arrest powers.
Well, the Act allocates $1.5 billion Annually. So, after covering the salaries of all their relatives and friends, there will a bit left for some law enforcement.
...and now CTA is going to install carbon filters on trains to "reduce the odor of 'increasing smoke' (tobacco, pot, fentanyl huffed off aluminum foil, passengers being set ablaze, &c.) and a rolling freestyle public toilet.
Always slap feebly at the symptoms. Ignore the underlying disease.
They can hire current mass transit cops, that way they can continue to get "event numbers for upper and lower" as they drive by the stations. That should help reduce crime.
"One of those governing bodies is the NITA law enforcement task force, to be created when the bill goes into effect, and to be run by the Cook County sheriff’s office. The task force must decide by January 2027 whether to recommend to a newly formed Coordinated Safety Response Council to create a sworn officer law enforcement program."
Seems conehead will be out of the loop.
The new transit bill has 200 million set aside for security, what a better way to get your hands on the money by hiring gang bangers to do security and not the racist police.
Good bye special employment. Lazy do nothings making time and a half…over
And of course.......No answers.
Sounds like a lot of new administrative job openings to get things going. The police will come later if there’s any money left.
So they will hire security who will then call CPD??? Just more hires to get paid to sit around and do nothing.
It will be like Special Employment for Violence Interrupters and Peace Keepers.
I'm not opposed to it. However, the employment should offer a 401K benefit only. NO PENSION! Illinois is BROKE. It only has enough money in its "Rainy Day" fund to last 16 days, the smallest ratio of all but two other (much smaller) states. Pritzker is running out of potential revenue sources to keep the state afloat!
Another reason is because many potential employees will be politically connected types who already enjoy receiving pensions from other defined benefit pension plans. I'm sick of seeing these clowns exploit the hard-working non-clouted taxpayers! No one deserves multiple municipal pensions, while the city and state are financially bankrupt!!!
Pritzker has already siphoned off 20 million dollars and gave it to Somali's...
The shit show continues, democrats want to control more jobs.
CTA special employment has been around forever and ain't going nowhere. Don't sign up, nobody cares but don't disparage those who do.
Here's an idea & I think a no brainer. Take the freakin muzzles off of the dogs that are used by security now. A dog with a muzzle is like an Officer who doesn't load his weapon but wears it anyway. No one wants to be bit & that would be instant justice
Does Meyra still have their own police dept.?
yes they will be like metra PD idiot and metra pd will be turning into this new force
Eric Carter will run the dept .
O’shea second in command
You’re such a loser
You can always sign up for easy OT instead of whining about other guys making easy OT. Miserable coppers who want everyone else to be miserable with them.
Expansion of Metra Police Force....
Whole new PD run by the elite of the retired CPD command staff, Snelling will be chief. Double dipping RTA command staff.
Sounds like the old CHA police!!!
There was an actual CTA police force.. what's old is new again.. 😂
Please. Every officer needs to tell the truth on the anonymous survey monkey following the e learning module how HORRIBLE the lesson was and that the elearning is now counterproductive because of the hatred of it.
they’ll need to once the city nomad discovers Metra and turns it into the CTA in short order.
Have you seen what’s coming out of the CPD classes? I wouldn’t laugh. It’ll probably be a great job; no residency, and no COPA. I’ll do it. You’ll be busy too, as soon as “you know who” ventures onto Metra and starts “exploring.” All the communities Metra serves will also get quite busy, as a result of this “merger.”
At one time (like when aldercreatures) train conductors had "conservator of the peace" powers and could arrest any offenders on railroad property.
HaHa. This actually sound more like Department of Aviation Security.
Start signing up for CTA now to get your minimum quarters for social security.
Wasn’t a Violence interrupter arrested for domestic violence, a few have arrests for Narcotics , maybe thefts and burglary
