A bunch of nervous people at all levels of Illinois government all of the sudden:
The Chicago Bears have released a new statement on a potential new stadium as Indiana lawmakers moved forward with a bill to bring the team to Hammond.
The Bears said in a statement, "The passage of SB 27 would mark the most meaningful step forward in our stadium planning efforts to date. We are committed to finishing the remaining site-specific necessary due diligence to support our vision to build a world-class stadium near the Wolf Lake area in Hammond, Indiana. We appreciate the leadership shown by Governor Braun, Speaker Huston, Senator Mishler and members of the Indiana General Assembly in establishing this critical framework and path forward to deliver a premier venue for all of Chicagoland and a destination for Bears fans and visitors from across the globe. We value our partnership and look forward to continuing to build our working relationship together."
Thursday morning legislators voted unanimously to push a bill out of the Ways and Means Committee. The bill would create the Northwest Indiana Stadium authority similar to Illinois Sports Facilities Authority. This could convince the Chicago Bears to cross state line and build a new stadium.
Fata$$ just wanted them to stay in Illinois, but anything to diminish the power of the Chicago / Cook County pols was fine with him.
Prickwrinkle was fine standing by the sidelines because the Arlington Heights Bears would still have been in Cook County.
No one was listening to Conehead who continues to cement his place at the bottom of mayoral history and the bottom of the political pecking order.
And here comes Indiana with tax breaks, infrastructure improvements and a pro-business approach.
We still think it's a long shot, but anything to make Illinois dems nervous is golden. Plus, we can see the political ads being written for the next election painting dems as chasing the most storied franchise out of town and having to raise taxes (again) to make up for the accompanying massive revenue shortfalls.

The Bears are leaving because the politicians in Illinois and the Chicago area messed everything up! I plan on moving too. The politicians also messed up policing.
Pritzker acted surprised in his press conference. Heard Gov Braun(Indiana) on the radio who sounded logical describing the move if the Bears move. He said it could be one to two months. He said Pritzker, the Illinois State Legislature, and BLM Brandon had been working on keeping the Bears for two years to no avail. He also listed some Illinois businesses who have moved to Indiana. Change the motto on the Illinois License Plates to "Land of Leaving."

Indiana actually makes more sense than people think. there are more true Bears fans in the South suburbs and in NW Indiana than North and it'll cost hundreds of millions of dollars less to build in Indiana for to cost of labor, materials, permitting fees, etc

Kudos to the American Women's hockey team for earning a gold medal. Americans were so proud when they put their arms on each other and sang the National Anthem in unison with smiles on their faces showing their pride representing their Nation. What a class act with their patriotism, their sportsmanship and their athletic prowess. These women are true role models for the youth of America.
On the other hand you see N.F.L. players spitting during the National Anthem showing disrespect and contempt for the Nation that gives them seven figure paychecks, but gleefully accepting the National currency. Classless acts as the NFL's big money law firms adjudicate their pending cases keeping them out on bond to catch balls for the fawning audiences. Not all NFL players, but the radicals with their disgusting behavior happens with regular frequency. And it gets noticed. Or those imported baseball players spitting sunflower seeds as the stadium salutes and stands at attention while a singer dignifies our Nation's Anthem. And there is the NBA and women's NBA.
What a contrast in the Olympians who honor their respective countries with upmost respect on the podium. On the other hand some professional athletes, many of whom are on bad paper (parole, probation, on bond, work release), have no sense of public decorum or decency. Not exactly role models for our impressionable youth. Maybe the paid professional athletes should recognize by example publically displayed conduct by the Olympians when in the public eye.

The Bears aren't going anywhere, but the IL taxpayers will get poked in the rump like they always do. Voters don't elect anyone in IL, the machines do, so the politicians are only worried about getting on the wrong side of the people that control the election outcomes. IL is as screwed as CA.
Greedy Bears ? Well, yes, wouldn't you be ? But, the real roadblock here is the property taxes in Arlington Heights for a privately funded stadium. They would approach 200 million a year. No business would pay that and the school district is not budging as they see dollar signs in their future for more teacher and admin raises. In comparison, the LA Rams play in a new stadium that is partly owned by the city so their property taxes are only 9 million a year. A big difference.
It seems Arlington Heights and the school district there are very greedy and have dollar signs in their eyes. Unless they bend on property taxes the Bears will move to Indiana and become " The Midwest Bears".

The NFL is a multi-billion-dollar organization, they can afford to donate a few hundred million to the cause also. Actually, they could afford to dole out a billion to 2 teams every year at their present income. That would keep up with replacing the stadiums every 15 years. Until a few years ago the NFL was exempt from income taxes. Don't know how that happened. Just my take on this subject.

Building a spur off the South Shore line, building hotel onsite with top shelf restaurants and free shuttles to Indiana casinos will make it a destination not only for Bears fans but opposing team fans. Significantly less expensive than Chicago without the crime because Indiana still enforces the law. The tax savings for the team alone make it an easy decision.

So the proposed Wolf lake IN Bears domed stadium would be what - 1 mile outside of Chicago across the Indiana state line - Or better yet on the Gary Lake Michigan lakefront .
Northwest Indiana could finally see an economic rebirth , cultural and demographic revival similar to Newark NJ and the NJ Meadowlands when both NYC NFL teams the Jets and Giants moved across the Hudson River to New Jersey .

Educate yourself before coming on here and making a fool of yourself. If they build here they made it clear they would pay for the stadium just as they bought the property. The state would pay for certain infrastructure as they do in such capital projects that bring in significant revenue. The sticking point is 1: Property tax certainty and 2: unions/politicians trying to figure out how all the corrupt actors can wet their beaks. Indiana can do this because they aren't bankrupt like Illinois and actually have a budget surplus and not massive unfunded pension liabilities and budget deficits. Clown.
