Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson pushed back on President Donald Trump’s claims that federal actions made the city safer, but acknowledged that there has been a significant reduction in homicides.
Johnson made the remarks during an appearance on MSNOW’s “The Weekend,” where he was asked whether Trump was correct in saying his actions improved public safety in Chicago.
“He is not,” Johnson replied, accusing Trump of increasing “instability” in the country. “Where ICE and federal agents were present, we actually saw an increase in violence. In other words, the tension and the chaos that federal agents bring to cities in America, it actually is counter-productive,” he claimed.
Yeah, engineered and directed violence. But....:
- However, Johnson then acknowledged a sharp decline in violent crime. “Yes, we saw a 30 percent reduction in homicides, shooting, shooting victims, all down,” he said.
Removing the criminal element from the streets, whether home grown or illegally imported, reduces crime. Is that so hard to admit?

Nope. No viable Dem candidate will appear. The CTU and its minions can’t afford a viable candidate to ever look behind the CPS curtain and see the true cost of its failures. Too many employees, too few students, too many schools fully staffed with under 30% enrollment and the biggest tragedy of turning out graduates who can’t read, write, do math, or understand anything that would enable them to be productive members of society.

Just look at Little Village, the reduction of shootings and murders can’t be denied. In fact, the only 2025 murder I can think of there was a black guy from the south side.

I hate to piss on your idea. Unless you have a huge MAGA type monsoon blow into town and get elected to the Mayor's office and at least 1/3rd of the City Council and "Cue Tip" is institutionalized so the Repubs can grab the County, it will never happen. The CTU has huge money and the city council in its pocket. The grip is so tight it would take 20+ years just to get even.
There is no money and who knows the actual debt numbers. I would imagine it is in the multi-billions. Everywhere you look, there is no money and some Fuckhead is in charge of the payouts. This is Chicago Baby, nice to dream, but reality strikes at the ballot box and they control that too. There are no gifts coming from the Orange Man either.
As for the drop in crime, the victims need to be outside for target practice to begin. If the crime stats do not include kidnapping or human trafficking, of course your crime stats will drop also.

As someone who actually lives in Little Village, the Latin Kings still barricade nighttime streets with dumpster checkpoints now & then (with zero CPD response), & you still hear gunfire too often. Hell, the 3 unlicensed auto repair shops operating out of garages in my own alley are still openly in business, & I think 2 of them are run by recent Venezuelan arrivals.
The streets ARE a little quieter, but overall things remain the same. I would be curious to know though - have street prices for cocaine gone up substantially over the past year? That would reflect actual pressure on the cartels.
It's also admitting that the person who shows complete disregard for the law by entering the country and staying illegally might just show disregard for other laws, like rape, murder, robbery........ And you know how Da Mayor feels about "demonizing" yutes / brown people!
