Conehead Prioritizes Criminals
More than 100 people gathered in Sheridan’s gymnasium, about 70 miles southwest of Chicago. Students of the Northwestern Prison Education Program, which offers undergraduate degrees to men incarcerated at Sheridan, their families and professors had the opportunity to speak with the mayor.
In 2023, their initial graduating class became the first group of incarcerated students to earn a bachelor’s degree from a top university. Northwestern also offers a bachelor’s degree program at the largest women’s prison in the state, Logan Correctional Center.
“I’m here to learn and ensure that my responsibility as a leader of the city in Chicago, that you all know that you will always be front and center in all of the decisions that I make,” Johnson said to the crowd.

Giovanni Rios - 23 years for murder

Taki Peacock - 80 years for murder and kidnapping
Ian Valencia - 26 years for attempt murder
Demetrius Cunningham - 80 years for murder
Anthony Harris - 15 years for robbery (with a prior agg CSA/weapon conviction)
William Peeples - Life for murder
WTTW's cute little article omitted what these guys were charged with, go figure.
We did see the article noted the last name was serving time for murder, but it seemed like the article glossed over the rest of them.
But if Conehead isn't sucking ILLEGAL ALIEN ass, he's sucking up to murderers instead of law abiding citizens.

Is Northwestern providing them a college education for free? But they want tens of thousands in tuition from kids and families who obey the law and do things the right way?

“People who are closest to the danger, are closest to the solutions..." So close, yet so far. A police officer had to put the cuffs on each one of the convicted criminals to "get them" where they are today. They should be applauding the A/O who made this all possible!
Obviously those Northwestern degrees were not earned, they were given. -Just like Brandon Johnson's degrees from Aurora University are bogus. Aurora & Northwestern should both be stripped of accreditation for giving degrees to ignorant people who did not earn them.
This reads like a list of degree recipients from cod. How many of our bosses have degrees from Calumet college majoring in liberal arts studies?

As a former cop and educator, I would speculate that Northwestern has cheapened their standards and their degrees by offering this at a prison. I just don't think it is the same quality of education, but over the years college degrees in general have had lower standards.
Bet BJ didnt pay for his schooling..another fly by education that any 3rd grader could have passed...well now that I think about it, 3rd graders are failing too.

Northwestern is a crime school they like to hire criminals as faculty. How about Bernadine Dorn? Remember her? A leader of the SDS in the 60s. She liked planting bombs in public buildings that killed a few people and maimed a few. On the FBI’s 10 most wanted list fugitive for about 20 years. Convicted felon the Bar association will not admit her so she can’t practice law but don’t worry Northwestern hired her as a professor. I guess they couldn’t find someone who didn’t bomb buildings and kill people.

A professor once told me that if we gave them degrees in prison, they wouldn’t get out of prison and steal our TV. So, no need to join the military to earn money for a degree, you can just go out and do crimes.

Calumet College is a respectable regionally (North Central Association; a Federally-regonized accrediting body) -accredited college, but the bosses should have really been Criminal Justice majors. Maybe the curriculum was too tough for them. Especially those teaching Constitutional Law.

I can see giving them classes for a GED if they don't already have that, AND IF the sentence is such that they'll be released at some point. We want them to try to be employed so we don't have to reincarcerate them.
