In my 12 years I seen many supervisors come and go. The quality of the supervisors keeps getting worse. To say nothing is to say everything about supervision.

I wonder if he’s going to tap the Area One Detective’s Watson? She keeps saying she’s getting promoted, although she got him named in a lawsuit. She’s been hanging around the 5th floor a lot lately.
Why would the CCG need a commander? It is two districts, each district having two commanders.
Pops to Chief of BOC is already a done deal. He's the acting chief right now. To say he doesn't know much about police work is an understatement. How this guy has moved up is a head scratcher to say the least. The word is he doesn't get along with Hein at all. I highly doubt JW moves up to DC of BOC. Pops keeps JW in the dark about everything. He actively works against him. JW is a strange character (some say he's bi polar, I wouldn't doubt it) but not a bad guy. He knows a whole lot more than Pops about how to do pro active police work.
More clout how do 8 replace the lieutenant in the detail unit
We just completed our first week in the detective training class. I made it by merit selection. Some other officers who made it via scoring well look down on us. Don't blame me for using the political system to my advantage. All I did was volunteer my time and hours off duty to help out some politicians for their community and election events.
Time and effort that resulted in a promotion. The same path is available to you.
Who cares anymore..its just shifting the chairs on the titanic. These mutts shift to a different spot, then bring in their own people...wash, rinse and repeat. What good does any of these changes do besides nothing!

That’s what wrong with this department.He’s looking to “take care of” someone. When he should be prioritizing and enhancing accountability and true reform.
If more bosses faced accountability and the possibility of a demotion, this department would be in a better position. The possibility of a demotion would lead to significant improvements among our leadership. It would positively impact our overall work environment. It would send a clear message that everyone, irrespective of their rank, is responsible for their actions and decisions.
These days, an individual can be promoted after having 68 CR’s, 10 which are open, 5 pending lawsuits, no honor or respect in your current position/ rank and no leadership skill whatsoever.
Oh, it’s promotion season. I was wondering why the BIA was excessively closing long and drawn out sham investigations after so many years.
Officers with EEOC complaints against bosses are being called down to the BIA for 3 minute interviews to have their complaints administratively closed or Unfounded, just so that the boss can be promoted again. The BIA is issuing bosses clean records for promotion.

Ask those haters how long they were allowed to study during a tour, while in a unit or office, etc... and the 376er's how soon they were transferred to a 'district' just before the list came out to appear lie-git. So F them and their score unless they were pushing a beat car or doing all the office/unit work and not allowed hours upon hours, days at a time to study during their tour. Let's not forget the medical/IOD personnel off just in time to study for days/weeks/year before test was given. Rank score don't mean sh!t

Unless it has changed, if massive layoffs were to hit the department it is by reverse seniority. All POs would go before they begin with detectives.
OT: SM and his XO in 001 worry about not spending overtime rather than manning the severely understaffed POs on 2nd watch. Nameless PO went to a missing person job 99 and got severely injured by the missing mental (heard his knee went in the reverse position). XO complains that POs do nothing while on overtime yet he's # 2 on WORKED VOLUNTARY REGULAR DAY OFF in his district! Why does an XO need to work on his day off?!

Can we get a 10 year block of just rank list promotions and all merit having their arrest numbers, only box 1 and 2, complimentary history, medical history and disciplinary history all having weight in their selection. And published. So if you had Sharon Price, Dana Starks sister inlaw, put up for merit sgt, you would see she did nothing ever as a PO. One of the laziest and dumbest ever to be given the special treatment while at the academy, wink wink, you know the special one on one testing so they can miraculously pass. Whoever typed this is a real ass clown. I've been promoted by test score more than once. I have an open CR and have dozen's more that are closed (zero suspension days). I've made or been part of thousands of arrests and countless search warrants. I've been sued and money has been paid out even when me and my fellow officers did nothing wrong. I have awards on top of more awards for going the extra mile and taking initiative to do active investigations and do pro active police work. I'll take that all day over some house mouse who has never done anything other than study orders and Monday morning QB what others have done. When I see an officer who doesn't have any CR#s or lawsuits, I see a COWARD!!!! The problem with the promotional process is that there should be activity standards to qualify for promotion. Illinois doesn't have a quota to keep your job but it should have a variety of activity metrics to get promoted. The biggest problem with CPD is all the do nothings who move up the ranks.
