Chicago Public Schools will be in session for a full day on May 1, but it will also be an official civic day of action during which hundreds of students will be able to take a “field trip” to a massive pro-labor, anti-President Donald Trump rally.
The Chicago Teachers Union wanted the school district to cancel classes so that staff and students could participate in May Day, also known as International Workers’ Day.
But CPS CEO Macquline King pushed back, saying she wanted to keep schools in session. The disagreement kicked off a firestorm of debate.
On Thursday, the sides agreed to a compromise.
This is exactly why the teacher unions need to be disbanded and forbidden from using children as hostages to their political machinations. Instead of teaching students how to be good citizens, they teach then that they're "victims" of the system - which they're not. They're kept in ignorance because they're easier to control via lies.
The CTU has forfeited all consideration.

The May Day field trip is not a compromise. The new superintendent rolled over to the communist teachers union demands and this is a way for her to pretend to save face and pretend she is in charge of the school system. She is not.
How about this, offer the students the option of participating in May Day events or going to a Cubs Game? The school I attended gave the Safety Patrol a field trip to the Cubs Game as a reward for participating in the Safety Patrol. Cubs are playing an afternoon game at 1:20 P.M.
This disgusting compromise sends a clear message that the progressive crowd in Chicago does not care about the children, especially minorities. Someday, folks have to wake up and start voting for Republicans.

Charge them with unlawful restraint, child abuse/neglect if they remove any child from any school for them imposing their will on children who are being used as pawns. The children don’t have the reasoning to understand what is going on.

With all the people getting shot on Chicago streets it is really foolish to expose kids to danger and use them for their own selfish purposes. Who has said they will take responsibility if a child is injured?
No doubt these idiots will gather at Union Park on the Westside, thinking it was named after Labor Unions, not knowing it was instead named after the reunification of the Union after the Civil War

The teachers who participate should be immediately terminated and stand charges for treason, child abuse, child endangerment, and should never, ever be permitted near children, even their own.

Any parent permitting their child this excursion, should also be charged.

Illinois needs a new law that states Illinois teachers are NOT allowed to strike just like in most better run Red States like Florida!

It seems that the teachers also don't have the reasoning to understand what is going on. How "pro labor" and "anti-Trump" can go together is astounding, considering the vast tax rollbacks on working people and retirees that were part of the Big Beautiful Bill. Dems have washed their hands of "working people", instead embracing the AWFLs (affluent white female leftists) and quasi-intellectuals representing "diversity" and working in DEI positions.
This "field trip" along with this indoctrination is a strong argument to dismantle the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) and give families educational "choice" rights in the form of a school "choice" voucher as an alternative to an underperforming third indoctrination. Additional government funding and property take hikes have not positively impacted educational progress.
Russian President Vladmir Putin heaped profound praises for the CTU's May Day workers celebration. CTU has been awarded the communist party's coveted Red Star Hammer and Sickle commendation, the highest award in the Soviet empire for extraordinary progress in Soviet doctrine by party members. Supreme Soviet political revolutionary Vladmir Lenin would be so proud of these Marxists in training advocating modern day student revolution for Hope and Change.

Reminds me of when I attended the NRA General Meeting in Indy.
There were a few protesters outside every day however Friday had the most.
Many of them where school age children.
Turns out they were allowed (I suspect encouraged) to stage a walkout and to protest during school hours.
To all Tax Paying Citizens of Chicago, SUE the Board of Education & Teachers Union for wasting our tax monies for bus transportation & "Boxed Lunches" for the children! Our taxes go toward their education not this Bull Shit!!

Let’s find one, maybe two other Chicago citizens named “Brandon Johnson” or B Johnson - it’s a pretty common name in the Black community. We spend big $ to get other Brandon Johnsons on the ballot for mayor to split the Brandon Johnson/B Johnson vote.
Joseph Kennedy the patriarch of the John, Robert and Teddy Kennedy family used this trick against anyone running against one of his sons. Sure it’s kind of tricky, but Joe Kennedy like senior Mayor Daley played to win and they did win most of all their campaigns. IMO the Kennedys with the exception of the worst ever US Senator Teddy Kennedy weren’t so bad. And also IMO Chicago hasn’t been “The City that worked” since Mayor Daley Sr died.
Anybody else have some practical ideas to get rid of this God awful CTU lobbyist, BLM #*$&# mayor Brandon Johnson?
