Teen Takeover Discussion?
Why are politicians "discussing" lawbreaking?
As more so-called teen takeovers could be planned in Chicago this week, the concern over the gatherings seemed to be split in a South Side room, literally, on Tuesday night.
"They're saying they want places to go, things to do. We have park districts and everything in our communities. Let's open it up for them," one woman said.
Organizers with Acclivus, a community health organization, hosted a teen takeover listening session in Washington Park.
"The kids are just dangling. They don't have nothing to do," one young person said.
Tuesday night's meeting came as Ald. Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth said there will be intermittent closures of DuSable Lake Shore Drive ramps if necessary in response to planned large gatherings at Foster Beach on Thursday and Friday.
Parking restrictions will be in place along the lakefront from Lawrence to Foster on June 4 and June 5 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., and the DuSable Lake Shore Drive off-ramps at Lawrence and Foster will be closed if necessary, Manaa-Hoppenworth said.
They have plenty to do - they just don't do it.
They could also get....we dunno....jobs?
There are twenty-six MILES of beaches, many within walking distance of where these teens live:
- 12th Street
- 31st Street
- Rainbow Beach
- 57th Street
- 63rd Street
- South Shore
Just to name a few that are far closer than Foster Avenue. What's the attraction of going that far away from home, besides the abundance of victims and the lack of police manpower?
There are laws in effect - enforce them aldercreature. Stop making excuses for misbehavior.

We have a Superintendent who admitted to punching a handcuffed prisoner in the back of a squad car multiple times.
A Chief (Paps) who abused the medical roll and went to party in Florida and was caught.
We have people receiving multiple recent merit promotions who run marathons while on the medical and don’t report to work and have committed PPE loan fraud.
But were supposed to follow the rules?
Maybe they can pick up the litter around their neighborhood, help people mow lawns, paint a fence, pull weeds, you know, community stuff.
They go downtown to destroy and cause disorder, mayhem, and steal whatever is available for the taking. Stop believing their bullshit “we don’t have anything to do” excuses. This is mob action and rioting by large groups of criminals. Wake up. Why do we tolerate this behavior?
All these bust outs get jobs…bwahahahahahaha. When you read and think at the CPS acceptable 3rd grade level, there is no job available.
These kids also believe they should start a job earning $20-$30 an hour.
Help is on the way, the Jackson Park Tomb Stone opens in a few weeks and this should keep the youtes busy for tens of minutes.

Exactly right..i was told the same thing. Growing up as a kid, we had nothing compared to what these kids have today but we managed...we rode our bikes, played ball in the street, alley, parking lot or park, went to the mall arcade, rolling skating, hide and go seek, however, we NEVER looted, stole, robbed, car jacked, beat or shot anyone. STOP making excuses for these kids who want to cause trouble and chaos and guess where that comes from. When you have Shitball parents expect the same from your kids who are not taught any better.

They don’t have anything to do is code for they receive zero parental guidance growing up.
Kids mirror what they see at home and if you’ve ever worked in da hood you’ve seen it and understand why this behavior continues generation after generation.
I would go as far to surmiser every youtes at a teen riot is the product of a single parent home or zero parent home.
These are questions that need to be documented when the youtes are detained and or arrested.
Start collecting factual data and maybe the system can address and correct the problem.

I always enjoy hearing the we want 30 an hour chants for doing nothing from the Youths. Reminds me.of my dad who had to work 15 years as a sheet metal worker to finally make 15 an hour.
Can't someone figure out that the youngsters in the other communities do for fun. Why don't we see packs of Asians or Middle Eastern kids jumping on cars or taking over neighborhoods. Same thing with Edison Park or Pilsen. Wait till the Pride events. That should be another great disaster. Year after year we have takeovers. Still can't figure out what to do.

When I was their age I had a full time Summer job at The Museum of Science and Industry. Of course one of my two parents had to drop me off and pick me up if I didn’t have another ride arranged…so it took effort on my parents part. 🧐🧐🧐🧐

One thing we can do is change the description because it usually not teenagers. When people think teens they think 14. These are usually 18-24 year olds. They’re not kids, they’re adults who deserved consequences.
They should try the beaches around Evanston, Wilmette or Kenilworth. Those communities would love to have them. Just ask them to invite our youth. May the city could provide some sort of transportation for them.
We use to have an organization called the Boy Scouts that did all that stuff; but it was found to be sexist and was sued out of existence.
