The title of the proposed Department Directive is: Community - Police Mediation Pilot Program.
It is essentially a "bitch-and-moan" session where you meet with a complainant on "neutral ground" and they get to bitch about how you treated them. The draft says nothing will be recorded, no recording will take place, no records will be preserved.
Don't fall for it. You have Contractual protections for a reason and you have recordings during actual CR investigations made for many reasons. Don't let COPA and IAD screw you out of protections while they further neglect their jobs to do actual thorough investigations.

If it wasn’t serious I would think it’s some kind of joke. Where is the FOP. We as employees keep losing things even so we have a union. The department is run by incompetent bosses. Just a bunch of garbage going on.
I have heard numerous other posts that I concur with saying just answer your jobs and go home. I just made 20 years and seen a lot of officers get jammed up trying to do work. Listen to words of wisdom and remember slow and steady wins the race to retirement.

And just how do they think they are going to get some one to show up on time for an appointment when the comunity doesnt live by a watch in the first place? Some female “community member” was at the south shore training center one day for some usual bs training.
She basically said we police go home and don’t care about her domestic situation and problems.
Some female po gave her an appropriate soft answer basically saying we respond report, call CFD, and make arrests if need be, but at the end of the day we delete from our memory, if possible, all the events of the day.
And no we don’t care about your life. It’s your life fix it.
The nanny state is perpetuating this bs desire for the police to care and or get involved in people’s lives.
News flash. We don’t care about your life. Good or bad. your life is based on your upbringing and life decisions.
CPD needs to stop telling people we have some form of involvement or responsibility for where they are in the world.
WE DONT CARE.
we all have our own lives and issues and concerns and stresses. Bills due sick kids dying parents, etc.
And we pay an astronomical amount of taxes to fund and try and fix the lives of people who make 95% of the calls for police service.
If anyone from the CPD brass or city hall are reading this let the public know we’ll come when called and do our job based on our training. Render aid. Make arrests. Fill out case reports.
But at the end of the day that’s it. I/we don’t give one fuck about your issues, problems, and life experiences or miserable existence.
The public needs to know this and stop relying on some imaginary officer friendly who’s going to hold their hand while going to buy dope, weed, crack, booze, lotto tickets, smokes.

Stop it already. The judicial ruling only mandates the interest. The judicial decision never addresses the “when” it will be paid. Summed up Chicago will declare bankruptcy and you won’t be paid. Stop speaking about the issue, it,s a moot point.
