Gaming Crime
Going over our BINGO card this evening....did anyone have "Criminals go to where the money is at" on their card?
Bars, restaurants and other establishments offering video gambling in Illinois were burglarized 473 times in 2025 — an alarming rise from the prior year, when there were 358 incidents.
Not even six months into 2026, there already have been more than 500 burglaries — signaling what could be a very ugly year crimewise at local gaming parlors.
“They gotta figure something out because these guys are cleaning up,” says a gambling cafe operator who asked not to be named, and whose suburban business was hit by thieves in May.
“They’re doing four, five places a night.”
Maybe this is main the reason Conehead is against slot machines:
- a massive uptick in crime property numbers would make it harder to claim "crime is down"
Here's a silly question since we only gamble with toothpicks - why have this much cash lying around? Wouldn't all electronic cards and such remove that part of the crime incentive? Government could track it a lot easier, too, making sure they got their cut immediately.
We're just wondering.

It pays a lot better when you break into the machine, at least that’s what the criminals believe.
So glad that assman009 and diamond dave will be reunited on midnights soon. 009 Tact had mass dumpings today. Gonna go back to eating my salad.
Being used to launder $. ?
I'd surmise that they have large amounts of cash around because they're not paying taxes on it...
The machines are filled with money and are serviced by an outside company so they would have to empty every machine at nite and refill them every single morning at every location which wouldn’t be feasible. I think most games give out receipts now that you cash in at one ATM style machine so you lock that up and would solve a large part of these thefts.
The whole thing is BS. These guys are driving around with two sometimes three cars, all stolen, going town to town and hitting these places. The places aren’t allowed to remove the cash because it belongs to the state essentially. The state removes it maybe once a week. The investigations take months and when someone finally gets ID’d, the worthless ASA’s barely want to issue warrants or pursue “just property crime.” Nevermind the fact when these guys actually do get stopped or caught, they are almost always armed with full auto Glocks. They are basically allowed to operate with impunity.
Mike Santos will put a stop to this trend in 010. Just wait guys, the real police is in charge now
Or they could empty the machines every night ? Unless the so called gambling machine COMPANIES dont have many employees. Higher armed off duty to collect... On another note those ghetto ATM machine can all have a 30 $ tracker installed inside to recover them in englewood.
I'm surprised the bent nose guys haven't arranged for some special fun for these Raggedy Ann Glow Worm head bandits.
"Crime is down since my administration took office"- Brand dumb Johnson
Will the establishments still be on the hook for the taxes the machines created for the State?
I don't see why any politicians are talking about reparations, they seem to be reparating themselves just fine.
Salad? Gurly man.
I remember a neighbor in a certain northwest suburb lamenting the rise in street crime: "It was much safer when the mobsters lived here."
Welcome to the watch boys
We don’t do Raggedy
Even in Las Vegas Casinos now most use the "TITO System" for E-cash!
No cash allowed only credit and debit cards!
Just like at all the Chicago Stadiums! Wrigley, Sox Park, United Center...
TITO = Ticket in and Ticket Out, with NO cash to steal!
maing, ain't nobody going to Englewood to recover that junk... nobody getting arrested or charged and we all know it.
