Nice Job Sarge
Right place at the right time:
An off-duty Chicago police sergeant spoke exclusively with ABC7 after helping rescue four people from a sinking boat on Lake Michigan after spotting a distress signal through dense fog over the weekend.
Sgt. Christoria King said she was on a holiday boating retreat late Saturday night when she noticed a flickering light in the distance amid heavy fog near 31st Street Harbor and Beach.
"The fog was so thick, you could not see in front of you," King said. Despite the limited visibility, King said a call for help carried across the water. "I saw the flickering light again, and I'm, like, 'Somebody's in distress,'" she said.
She and her friends ended up rescuing four people before the boat sank.

Fog? Sound the foghorn. "Beeeeee-ohhhhhhhh". Every time I hear a story that includes fog, I'm reminded of the 3 Stooges episode when they were on a boat in fog. " Bee-ohh. Your best friends should really tell you." In all seiousness, the Sgt did a great job. She took initiative in adverse and probably terrifying circumstances to save people from a surely panicky death.
Were any of the men in the water named Bob?
I just love feel good stories like this. We need more of them. Oh, I am sure there are , but we never get to hear about them.

How refreshing that the CPD still has decent people in the department. COPA will review and investigate this though? Chicago is so corrupt from top to bottom, this fine police officer is actually doing police work. A rare thing under this administration.

Uh oh! COPA is investigating this incident. Apparently the off duty Sergeant opening herself to force review by subject matter experts when she removed boaters from the water by physically using excessive force, without first performing de-escalation techniques, to overcome gravitational resistance. The Sergeant failed to complete the necessary Investigative Reports and articulate reasonable suspicion in an official report in violation of the Consent Decree Constitutional policy re-imagination protocols The Sergeant also failed to activate her off duty surveillance body worn camera (BWC) immediately when learning of a life threatening boaters in distress prior to the performance of her duties while rendering lifesaving aid. Was she wearing her buoyant safety vest with a visible name tag while identifying herself prior to the life and death rescue? Silliness aside, Good job Sarge.
This pun was intended to illustrate the silliness of all this oversight. Instead of directing efforts to combat disorder, to prevent crime and to encourage interaction with citizens; COPA, The Force Review Board, The Constitutional Policing and Reformed Authorities, Training Division Use of Force Tenured Experts, Democrat leaning appointed federal judicial activists in black robes and Consent Decree saboteurs chose to scrutinize officers each and everyday who demonstrate courage to perform actual police duties. Their non-common sense reviews promote legitimacy for these redundant, useless oversight authoritarians. Lots of titled authorities with excessive wasted non-defundable monetary resources allocated to progressive anti-police activism with little or no positive contributions to make Chicago Safe Again as crime and mayhem proliferates.

Shes obviously overqualified. They would constantly reject experienced divers over people with clout. I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong, they kept trying to disqualify a guy who swam the English channel.

They did reject that guy who swam the English Channel. Local media did a story about how he finished first in the swim test (but apparently last in the clout test) and CPD was so embarassed they put him on the Marine unit on 1st watch. He eventually got days. He swam long distances to raise money for our fallen. Nial Funchion.
