Recruit Shot?
Rumor today that a recruit got shot on the range? Tourniquets had to be applied?
Any details? Are they going to live?
UPDATE: an emailer claims this wasn't a recruit, but a staff member who laid open most of his hand cutting up part of his lunch and Officers applied a tourniquet due to the heavy bleeding.
So a Lifesaving Award may be in order.

Most coppers put tourniquets on for any bleeding when it really should be for squirting blood. Total amateurs, then they want a life saving award for it.
They need to bring back using the booths in the areas. I get open area shooting is more real but now its too real
I almost didnt pass because i was not confident in the person shooting next to me that it was hard to focus.
They teach them to apply a tourniquet for a hang nail. The LEMART class that Ralph and Brian absconded from the Cook County ER Dr that was very good to the CPD. They sure parlayed that into some promotions and awards.
Two unnecessarily dumb things this dept does is weapons inspection and shooting in a line on the range. Yes this is ok with competent people but not a bunch of dumb ass city government employees who r slobs.

Would anyone doubt this after seeing who they've been hiring for the past several years in this ghetto dept? (Look at the squad car sitting on the academy range full of holes.) My ass puckers up like a frog when I have to qualify now seeing there's no booths between me and my coworkers. Blam-boom-zing. I'd rather qualify at a private range where people hit the paper (and not the floor) and I don't get flagged during reloads.

Has anyone been to the new range at the new academy. I can't believe how messed up the range is. When I went to qualify they have you walk down range and stand at the line on the floor made from tape. I thought it was a joke at first. no booths, no moving targets. Then you walk back to the next tape on the floor line. 4 people didn't pass. I'm shocked more people haven't already been hurt. Peck would find this unacceptable.

Please tell me this is satire? Wtf do you need a booth for? A false sense of safety? 4 people didn’t pass because 80% of the department can’t shoot. I was talking to an instructor and she said that approx 800+ officers have failed their qualifications this year ALONE. What do you want on the floor? A run way with LED lighting?
There are moving targets they just aren’t activated. This department can barely shoot at still paper targets and you want them to shoot at a moving threat?

Stop hating let people get awards go print out something great you think you did and take it to your Sgt to write something up for you I encourage this shit all the time! Stop worrying about others think about competing against yourself and what you’re doing. Get involved with organizations pray take care of yourself ask for help when needed, make changes, try something new learn something new, all this helps prevent bitterness which is horrible to have generally especially while on this job

The recruitment section needs to be revised. They are hiring gangbangers.
This is the design of every modern range and it works better. The dimly lit range with crowded booths makes it 10x harder for instructors to monitor everyone. Moving target mechanisms break down on a regular basis in CPD ranges and are never properly fixed or maintained. The new ranges are 5x brighter, wider, and come with lower maintenance. I’m guessing you don’t shoot very much and rarely if ever on an outdoor range in a class setting. And gives a fuck what Jim would’ve thought.
I hope the recruit had his baton and pepper spray... very important to have that while at the range. Just wait till the range is all civilian retirees trying to stay awake. Keep in mind these recruits will be your back up.
