For those unaware, John is the First VP of the State Lodge and the State Lodge has allegedly been undergoing a bit of their own upheaval lately involving possible outside investigations....

I asked one of the board members about John spending our dues on himself. The board member actually told me that it's not stealing because he can pay it back. This makes me wonder if the entire board is stealing from us, or John just surrounds himself with the stupidest people he can find.

It is not unusual for union officers to be well compensated. Is this still OK ? Up for debate. But, after being an officer of more than one organization, I have found the financials have been publicly accessible for every member to look over, at every meeting. The members of the FOP should demand the same and if this does not happen, replace them.

They all need to be voted out. They don’t give a damn about the officers they represent. Over the past five years, I’ve lost count of how many working officers from the 011th District have been jammed up for doing their jobs many stripped of their police powers and others placed in no-pay status.
There’s no reason officers should have to spend their own money on co-counsel because the union only has a handful of attorneys handling the entire membership. When you call, it feels like they don’t even remember who you are. That’s not the level of representation dues-paying members should expect.
Meanwhile, leadership sits back while officers are left to fight for themselves. We need leaders who will actually stand up for the membership instead of accepting the status quo.
John needs to go. It’s time for leadership that will fight for officers, improve representation, and earn back the trust of the membership. Vote them out.

As a retired former CPD detective I removed myself from anything to do with the FOP and most everything to do with the city. No more arguments from Benefit Management and dealing with some civilian nazi, no more FOP dues to an organization that has sunk no more health insurance related to FOP or the city. The only connection is the pension check arriving monthly (for now) and hopefully for a lot longer.
