Notice what hasn't been in the news lately?
The Chicago Bears are busy gearing up for the new NFL season, but off the field their quest for a new stadium continues to make headlines.
As the team gathered at Stevenson High School for a walk-through practice on Monday, team Chairman George McCaskey spoke briefly to media, and was asked about the process the Bears are going through as they try to get a new domed stadium built either in Indiana or in Illinois.
Currently the team is focusing its efforts on Indiana, and when asked about that process, McCaskey said there could be new information coming out soon about the location of that proposed project.
The lack of movement or desperation on the part of Illinois politicians leads us to believe there's a lot of backroom negotiating going on and the involved parties have been told to dial back the rhetoric while the final under-the-table donations pay-to-play bribe money negotiations take place.

Bears bluffing all along for a deal. Arlingtohn heights PD and Palatine PD we’re basically told months ago it was going to happen. My buddy in Palatine said they’ve been doing drills and layouts already.

Fact Illinois tollway commision now eyeing extension of tollway 53 north all while doing rebuilds of local exits near Arlington property.
Fact, property had several land surveys then soil penetration tests performed just in July.
Fact, Arlington heights doing drainage survey regarding possible sewer enlargement and improvements around property.

Very soon the results of the 'environmental study' will be released on the Indiana location indicating that entire area is a toxic waste dump, thereby giving the Bears an opportunity to tell Indiana with a straight face that they have no choice but to build in Arlington Hts.

So what was that last deadline all about? Who was it for if negotiations are still open? Did it go by because no one was ready to reveal that the tax payers would would be on the hook for any major costs? Why would the mayor and governor want to appear to have no plan at all? We are tired of the drama. If I want more drama I will watch the WNBA. This current season of "As the stadium turns" is excruciatingly boring. Everyone is speaking in metaphors and deadlines and reminds me of the 2010's where Van Halen was supposed to go out on tour. Would it be with DLR or Sammy Haggar? No one really cared. Endless interviews with Zero substance. ZZZzzzzz.........(snore) I still say that no one really cares where the Bears play. Just pick a lane and stay in it.
The owners of the Bears own property in Arlington Heights so this was probably their plan for a while.
Hammond is a Horrible Location it will take 2 hours to get there on game day if you live near park Ridge 90 94 is a major bottle neck going to Hammond.The Bears staff and a lot of players live in the Northshore.
It will be a 2 hour drive , Major traffic bottleneck imagine adding 80k people heading there.

You are absolutely correct. I am now experiencing my 4th 24 hr+ power loss since the start of 2026. I paid over $13,000 to have a stand-by generator installed on my farm residence. I live in southern Lake County. Nipsco the utility provider jacked up rates 17% in June of 25. My monthly utility bill increased from $312 in July of 25 to $632 in July of 26. All Nipsco cares about are data centers and customers are being f….. by these terrible utility rates.
