Barnes was a DEI sergeants union pick for the board by Paul Bilotta or Jim Ade, who also made Chris Petis a DEI board pick. Superstroke Calvino then made her a DEI vice president. Both Petis and Barnes are dumber than a box of rocks. See if you can find the pattern....Petis and Barnes both formerly worked at HQ and spent the majority of their careers as inside house mice. Both were DEI sergeants union picks. Both were made meritorious lieutenant as sitting vice president's of the sergeants union. Hmmm....now let's see, do you really think the two of them advocated really hard on behalf of their members or did they sell their souls for a future merit promotion? Calvino doesn't care because he got the board to give a closed doors pay raise to Captain's pay whilst Barnes got a raise to lieutenants pay while representing the union. Not sure if that's pensionable but a nice scam anyways for selling out your members with shitty contract agreements with the city. The worst contracts out of the 3 police unions every single time. Captain is the spot now. They do absolutely nothing. Really, they do nothing. They have no responsibilities and come and go whenever they want. Their names are on zero paperwork so they don’t get sucked into any lawsuits or complaints.

There’s 4 police unions, and out of the supervisors unions the sergeants have the best contract out of the three…also which union has Feds crawling all over them? Does the union president that doesn’t have a company car deserve higher non pensionable pay? He utilizes his personal vehicle to attend events, the unions death benefits golf outing…point out what in the contract is bad, please.

You realize the closed door pay raise you speak of is a board meeting. Then the vote went to union reps and then to the members. If they didn’t agree it wouldn’t have occurred because it’s a bylaw change.

What’s wrong with qualified sergeants? FOIA test scores, release of the audio from Lt. oral exam . Double Merit , cowards in CAPS , Union VP ? Sell out. Many that were passed over by these are more qualified.

What’s clear from these (and others) merit picks is that a working police officer l/Sgt doesn’t stand a chance. Look at the merit names, do a FOIA check on arrests, it’ll be evident to you as well that the working stiff is indeed, a sucker.

Wrong. It was a sham pay raise, last minute announcement. Board approved it back door style, a few days, maybe a week and only 20 members if that were at the general meeting. Only needed a simple majority of less than 15 people attending the meeting and it was approved. Very slick on how they did it. A page out of Catanzara's playbook.

To those who are heading into LT training. There will be a class / instruction on TRR's. A goofball Sgt from HQ will come in and tell everyone no Lt has ever been fired for a TRR. That is a LIE. A recently LT had to resign because of a TRR that happened in 011 some years ago. Don't let that clown Sgt tell you lies. This is 100 true and the LT was assigned to 020 when he was stripped and sent to call back. The TRR is one of the most screwed up reviews they have Lt's complete. And when they don't like what you or the officers did then the LT is on the hook almost if he/she had something's to do with what transpired on the street. Lastly it's not life changing money. Be careful and do not listen to that goof Sgt from HQ.

Barnes was a test score Sgt. She was in the top 50 test scorers. I supervised her in 002 Tact, she's not dumb at all. Tell the truth if you're going to bad mouth someone. She did not work the street as a Sgt. That would be telling the truth. She worked in 002 when Waller was the Commander. That would be part of her connection.

why are qualified blacks silent, many passed test with scores above 70. They work on the watch in Districts,some in Units. Not chosen because they are not boot lickers,they can think for themselves. File a law suit that Merit promotions must be taken in rank order from the list, not only blacks, but All Races ,men and women. Have a set standard to be considered for merit. union VP,CAPS Sgt. sounds like clout not merit.
