Arbitration Coming

There was some sort of an "offer" from the City regarding the Contract yesterday. We don't have the specifics yet, but it's as horrible as you can imagine and pretty much a slap in the face to a Department that has been worked to exhaustion this year, and shit on for three.

Rumor is 10% for four years (meaning it's almost expired) and back-loaded to minimize retro pay. Also, the gutting of disciplinary protections across the board.

The FOP is correctly outraged and disappointed. Expect more info shortly.

But you know atleast 51% of the guys on the jobs would take this offer like yesterday

Anybody see this jem? Got to love the Associated Press. It's not a real story without race involved!

"Police eventually used tear gas early Monday to disperse hundreds of protesters who took to the streets of the diverse city of 59,000 people in the heart of Pennsylvania Amish country following the shooting death of Ricardo Munoz on Sunday afternoon. (The Associated Press corrected this story to remove references to Munoz being Black. Authorities have not identified his race.)"

I heard the same thing but also heard there was talk of a $500 per year bonus in lieu of a better raise. The bonus would not compound with future raises so while we would get more money it would not obligate the city to anything down the road.

Your going to have to accept whatever they put out there. Then take them to court over residency. You will win that. They do not want to lose the residency hammer.

AngryToad Larri LightFührer has her wishlist and then flip-flopped?
It’s an insulting low ball and shredding, almost to the point that Larri has shopped and found an arbiter already to side with the City. The CPS contract was mostly decided under Rahm’s people, I wonder what potion of FOP was agreed upon years ago and now withheld altogether by Larri?

The best Contract will be the current form. 3 more years of Larri and it will NOT bend.

Fire got 10% for 4 years with 7.5% in first 3 years, but 1 for year 1. The raises are compounding so it’s important that the early years are at least 2% or more.

Bottom line, going to arbitration is going to add another year to take us into year 5. The arbitration process, in my opinion, is corrupt and there is no way to convince me the arbitrator isn’t bought and paid for by the city. It much cheaper to give a suitcase of 1 million dollars to the person making the decisions than it is to pay 10’s to 100’s of million to the whole department.

I figure you probably don't have the right to strike. You should fight for the right to withhold work due to unsafe working conditions. Too many 12 hr days, too many attacks/ambushes on cops, and idk what else exactly but it sounds like Chi has a ton. Is the City breaking your current contract? If not, how/why does the contract let them get away with sh--ting on you? Will you take another contract that does the same?

You need lawyers, good ones.
You'll have to supply the other 2 things yourself.

From the scum times;

In the letter, Frisch seemed to signal the administration would not back down on issues of police accountability.

“Your members deserve better,” Frisch wrote to Catanzara. "We remain committed to working together toward a fair contract, but will never retreat from the reforms that are essential to restoring legitimacy and accountability.

“It is clear that you are totally misreading this moment, the demands of the consent decree and the needs of the public,” he continued.

*This idiot the demands of the consent decree that was put together by the criminal madigans Lisa in particular who quickly resigned her position hopefully the federal authorities are looking in her and her father which we already know you’re going after daddy, the needs of the public needs to the public as they need police to do their jobs and you wanna wait for them to do that is for the Democrats they control everything to stop with the lawlessness and anti-police mantra Democrats ruin everything throughout the country especially in the most corruption filled city state and county the blood runs thick the murders keep rising!

I know it’s not all about money, but FUCK THAT!!!!
Back-loading it is BS.
That basically turns it into an interest-free loan that the city has had, with our money.
And on top of that, there is no need/pressure to negotiate in a timely manner if there are no consequences.

Make no mistake, extending negotiations extraordinarily long and avoiding/minimizing back pay IS designed to be punitive as a “fuck you” from the city- simply because they can.

I know that there are a lot of other urgent issues at play in this contract.
But retro is money that we have EARNED, and we shouldn’t have to give something away just to get it.

Step up to the plate FOP, and help us to be treated fairly!

Also, our salary doesn’t come close to the cost of living increases. Who will ever take this job? Especially being forced to reside here.

If it's a representative of the office, I will tell them no can do and i will need the owner himself, and not go in until the demon themselves show up and tell us verbally on camera and of course sign the consent to search sheet to enter their premise. Play these stupid games with police, I will play stupid games with these anti-police and stupid yokels from wherever they lurk. Sick and tired of hearing "We support the police." But we don't try to get involved on legislature to help back police and empower police. Reap what you sow, Minnesota's "city council" are upset all this crime is occurring in their city and the media outlets ask them questions such as "Should we give more resources to police?" "Was does the city council not have a plan for their "community plan based service system"?" I'll tell you why, because these woke fucking moronic, inbred, mama's/daddies basement/wealthfare individuals love not working and living off the governments dime with creating chaos in THEIR OWN NEIGHBORHOODS OR THE CITY. Let me repeat that barney style, THEY LOVE DOING CRIMINALS THINGS AND THE MAYOR AND POLITICANS WON'T ADMIT WHO THE PROTESTORS/LOOTERS/SHOOTERS/PILLAGERS ARE... Na boss man/lady, hope you don't have to sleep under your bed when people enter your condo or home and threaten you, hope you don't to call the police for US to protect YOUR weak anti-police ass. Keep hiding morons, these rioters/looters/shooters all see the same thing, if you have money, they will take it from you and they'll burn/loot/shoot/invade/etc whatever they want because of this stupid tree stump of a mayor and her "woke" idealogy and two faced tactics.

It’s completely mind boggling that we still have forced residency in the year 2020! Times have greatly changed. Residency is a major turnoff to get a decent applicant pool to become police officers. Especially now. Why the hell hasn’t JCat started the process? He campaigned saying it’s his top priority.

Suburban LEO here, over got an idea. How about we take the next 400 “non-violent” offenders That are released on recogs or low cash bonds. Take them in order, so no one can manipulate which ones qualify. We house the first hundred on a hotel floor with Prickwrinkle, the second hundred with Crimesha on another floor, the third hundred on a floor with Evans, and the last hundred on a floor with Campanella and her super-liberal views. They all stay there for a week, go about their lives.

Let’s see 1) how many recidivists we have in that week, and 2) if they are willing to put their money (or their lives) where their mouths are. If they have so much confidence that this social experiment is working and they’re letting the right people out, then it’s time to put up or shut up. Way too many decent people in neighborhoods throughout the city are terrorized by these same assholes and they don’t have a choice but to live near them.

You guys whining about Residency, just forget about it or find another Police dept.!

The city NEVER gonna give us residency and you knew what you got when you took this job!

For long term F.O.P., work on the Health Insurance the way it used to be and get lower premiums, with lower age at least 50 years old, with better coverage!

That's what you young Officers NEED to understand!

There are Police Officers with 30 years of service on, but only 50 years old and can't get the low premium Health insurance until 55 years old!

In the long run, health insurance is a way more important topic than residency because when most of you Officers retire most coppers move away from Chicago!

Look what Rahm did and stole, and bragged about taking away the health insurance from retirees!

Rahm committed a crime and was against the Illinois Constitution!

Its the younger generation who think doing activity for bosses makes them feel cool, its bragging rights to friends. There used to be a day in any union when whoever crossed a picket line was called a SCAB, or a knobstick. We cant strike, but we have an imaginary picket line which is not doing anything proactive whatsoever to help this Mayor. Not only because youll get screwed eventually being proactive, but this Mayor needs to understand that without us, this city would be literally in pieces. Downtown and the Mag Mile would still be on fire. Her home that we protected for her would have been burned to the ground. This Mayor cares NOTHING for police or whether you go home safe, or if youre black, white, hispanic, asian, gay, whatever. Youre a cop, and youre the enemy in her eyes. She cares about herself and how she appears nationally to liberals and to black people. I dont know how many times its been said on this blog, but its time to treat the proactive officers like they have crossed the picket line, cut them off, and treat them like they just stole money or food from you, because thats what they are doing. They need to understand that their actions are hurting everyone and negotiations. F this Mayor.

Municipalities that have chosen to impose employee residency requirements have sometimes faced constitutional challenges to their policies. These challenges seldom succeed in the courts. All that is needed for an employee residency requirement to be constitutional is that the municipality had a “rational basis” for adopting the requirement. This standard can be easily met. The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals (the federal appeals court that sits in Chicago) has noted, for example, that a city’s need to have its employees sometimes available on short notice is a sufficient, rational reason for a residency requirement to make it constitutional. Gusewelle v. City of Wood River, 374 F.3d 569, 578 (7th Cir. 2004.)

The Municipal Code of Chicago Section 2-152-050, ―Residence Restrictions,‖ provides that all City employees must reside in the City and makes no mention of a waiver from the residency requirement: All officers and employees of the city shall be actual residents of the city.

I fear that former vice president Joe Biden would be a figurehead president, incapable of focus or leadership, who would run a teleprompter presidency with the words drafted by his party’s hard-left ideologues. I fear that a Congress with Democrats controlling both houses — almost certainly ensured by a Biden victory in November — would begin an assault on the institutions of government that preserve the nation’s small “d” democracy. That could include the abolition of the filibuster, creating an executive-legislative monolith of unlimited political power; an increase in the number of Supreme Court seats to ensure a liberal supermajority; passage of devastating economic measures such as the Green New Deal; nationalized health care; the dismantling of U.S. borders and the introduction of socialist-inspired measures that will wreck an economy still recovering from the pandemic shutdown.

I fear the grip of Manhattan-San Francisco progressive mores that increasingly permeate my daily newspapers, my children’s curriculums and my local government. I fear the virtue-signaling bullies who increasingly try to dominate or silence public discourse — and encourage my children to think that their being White is intrinsically evil, that America’s founding is akin to original sin. I fear the growing self-censorship that guides many people’s every utterance, and the leftist vigilantes who view every personal choice — from recipes to hairdos — through their twisted prisms of politics and culture. An entirely Democratic-run Washington, urged on by progressives’ media allies, would no doubt only accelerate these trends.

One really needs to watch Trump's presser today and compare to a Joe+Teleprompter affair. What a jarring and stark contrast.

Trump gave lengthy, informed extended answers on varied complex subjects received from a hostile and snarky press, sometimes shouting at him and interrupting him, and he took them apart without ever getting angry or losing composure.

Compare that to Joe reading an answer (poorly) from his teleprompter to a scripted question offered by an adoring press standing dozens of yards away wearing a mask outdoors.

What a performance.

You are at the mercy of someone who openly hates everything you stand for. 3 years of hat in hand begging has gotten absolutely nothing, except them laughing in your face. The arbitration process, in my opinion, is corrupt and there is no way to convince me the arbitrator isn’t bought and paid for by the city. It much cheaper to give a suitcase of 1 million dollars to the person making the decisions than it is to pay 10’s to 100’s of million to the whole department.

“I basically told them our members are not gonna take it over the barrel because you guys delayed us intentionally for three years now. And now, because, `Woe is me. We’re poor,’ now, we have to take it on the chin. That’s not gonna happen,” he said.

“Firemen get to go back to their firehouse and wait for the next call, no matter how long they’re working. Police don’t have that luxury. They’re out there standing on foot posts for 12 or 14 hours. No bathrooms in sight. Women have to go find a dumpster to squat behind to go to the bathroom. Getting s--- thrown at us. Fireworks shot at us.

This is a yes and it is a no. The loser pays the arbitrator and if things are close, the city and FOP split the fees, which can be substantial. There is a list of arbitrators from which one is chosen. It seems that the arbitrators do not want to upset either side for fear of not being picked in the future, so they tend to split the decision

Apparently nobody reads the contract.
Article 27: Residency....it’s in the contract, ergo we can demand it be lifted for PO’s. Not that hard.

Stop whining about an issue that less than 5% of the dept would use. It's great that you want to move to whatever suburb you grew up in and live near mommy and daddy but why should everyone else make concessions for you?

Jimmy Cricket, you are a stupid sob. Yes, it is in the contract, but it is also a city ordinance and a state law. A contract cannot change a law. Go back to playing with yourself and leave the blog to the adults.

Residency, This fucks all us officers who have lived in the city and own homes. Some of us will lose up to 100K. Its easy to say this when you do not own. But when you do, you will be fucking us with this change. Also, how do you think that the pensions will be funded when we all move. Jesus have some common sense.

They're happy. They just got a bunch of those new lightweight umbrellas to hold for her.

police to be exempt from property taxes on their primary (single family unit) residence. Police to be exempt from water, sewer, trash fees.
police family members shall not pay for city colleges.
police to be exempt from wheel tax stickers.

I'm sure there are plenty more such taxes/fees the city can exempt us from, at no "immediate" cost.
