How's crime looking here in Chicago?
- Story #1: Late last year, we told you about Cedric Johnson, a man accused of
carjacking and gun possession, after Judge William Fahy rejected the
state’s detention request and sent him home on electronic monitoring.
Last week, Johnson once again appeared before Fahy. Prosecutors said, still on electronic monitoring, he got caught with a gun while riding in an Uber. That still wasn’t enough to convince Fahy to keep him in jail on the new allegations. Although the judge did agree to detain Johnson until the judge handling the carjacking case had a chance to review the matter.
- Story #2: A Northwest Side man charged last October with shooting a 69-year-old
man was detained by a judge on Friday after prosecutors accused him of
shooting the same man again this week.
John Kastanes, 64, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery by discharging a firearm, and aggravated battery in connection with the latest shooting.
A guy on bail for a gun, gets another gun, and gets caught.
And another guy shoots the same guy he shot last year. In his defense, the guy he shot seems to be an asshole, but still....

Will Fahy was always a good attorney representing POs in front of the board and for criminal cases.
Would have never happened in Dupage or McHenry county, only here which is why this place is known as crook county.
I was on the job 20+ years and now happily retired. Throughout I had to handle a few personal issues on my own without police because I know the police can't do shit. Some people make you do things you normally would not. I'll tell you, black hoodies come in handy.

Fahy was a pretty good guy as an ASA and did his best representing policemen in front of the Police Board. Is it possible that he, with great reluctance, is merely adhering to the rules and guidelines set down by Chief Judge Timothy “I have inherited The mantle of Harold Washington” Evan?
